XPEL XR Black 35 Window Tint on 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro (Tintmeisters, Salem, OR)

Tintmeisters in Salem, OR installed XPEL XR Black 35 on all side and rear windows, and XR Plus 70 on moonroof of our brand new 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro. Eddie and Juan were total pros, as is evidenced by their perfect 5.0 rating on Google. As I noted in the video, if I were doing it again, I would probably go with 20 on rear doors and back window to darken it up a little more (was expecting factory to be about 20, not 27), but overall it turned out really well. Probably going to put XR Plus 70 on windshield too, which will darken interior a little more, and help with interior heat. I planned to return after two weeks to have windows checked with light meter, but Coronavirus happened, and life as we know it stopped. Once world is back up and running, I will have them meter the rear sides, front sides, and the moonroof and post it here. I did xpel xr plus %35 sides and rear and 70% front windshield what a horror experience it has a hue blueish/purplish looks very cheap look, how this compares to the xr black film is it more rich black hue to it and I’m thinking to go 30% as well since 35% looks very light ? My tint shop offer me to redo the job since they missed up the installation

Yes, mine has only black, no purple or blue tones. Good luck w the fix. Nice they are taking care of you after messing up.

This truck looks nice. I use to to tint as a side job in college. I used 3m highest grade at the time and were the only solid ones. XPEL is a solid tint and I recommend it for higher % tint quality is everything these days. So when clients come to me they ask about going the darkest but I recommend matching the rear windows to that of the front. Most Tacoma rear windows are about 30% or less if you want to match the front and the black equally use this match equation. For this video you did 35% all the way around. Rear new % = current %(0.27) X New % (0.35) X 100= 9.5% Rear windows. I don’t recommend this depending on state laws so check your state laws. Hope this help y’all out.

Thanks for your video, looks 👍. I have XR 70 all 4 doors on mine. Does the job, solid IR heat rejection. On a side note the INSTALLER of this product is top notch, knows his product, terrific attention to detail. A lot of times with tint, it's all about the installer. Well done sir.

Never did. I should try to swing by the shop and get them to test it. I went by once and they had lent it out, then covid hit. ☹️ If I find out I’ll let you know. Thx!

It hasn’t been an issue at night at all. Thanks for sharing your experience. 15 is pretty dark, especially over factory. Makes me feel a little better about not going with darker tint on mine. Hope you get it figured out to your liking.

35% tint at night is not bad at all, i had 15% it was dark but then i went 5% on all windows besides windshield and it’s dark now 😂

Yes, and the moon roof. The only thing they didn't do is the windshield.

I was going to get my 2020 Tacoma limited tinted 25% but now that the rear is 27% what would you recommend me doing?

I think 20 or 25 over the factory rear would be about perfect. I'm still pleased with mine, but would prefer just a tiny bit darker. Good luck!

Kevin Hill i did 30% first. then 15% on all the windows over factory except the windshield. and that still wasn’t dark enough for me LOL then i ended up getting 5% to match the backs with 15% over the back and now it’s good, might even get a 5% brow

The tint looks great. Are you noticing any haze or graininess from the inside looking out when the sun hits the window at a certain angle?

Thanks for the compliment and for your question. I have not noticed any haze or graininess at all. In fact, there has been nothing whatsoever (other than the darker color and decreased interior heat) to even make me aware the tint is there. Flawless so far!
