The car (carrier) has an impressive range. But the eVTOL looks kind of dinky. Maybe for recreational use in certain restricted areas. For emergency use (police or medical), you need something more solid. An eVTOL that can be a helicopter replacement. And it will probably be heavily regulated, at least at the same level as helicopters. I can't see "flying cars" for widespread individual use. We only have to look at the mess with drones flying around NJ.

Our Xpeng guide said the aircraft is for personal fun. Get airborne, have a look around, come back to the carrier. In America this would probably be categorized as an ultra light. That could mean it requires no license and can be operated just about anywhere as long as it isnt over crowds. Hang gliders, hot air balloons, and paragliders are other good examples of personal recreational flight. The limited altitude prevents this aircraft from being much of a threat to other traffic. -Producer Tim

At this point this kind of aircraft has limited range because of battery weight. It s not supposed to carry you from downtown to airport at this stage. It s only for outdoor activity at this point. But i expect this kind of eVTOL to be more mature in 2 - 3 years when battery tech is more advanced.

It is a prototype. Those details will follow. This is made for "personal fun" or rescue missions. Think of it as an alternative to paragliding or hot air ballooning. For less than the price of a decent helicopter, this is an aircraft and an EV transporter. As Fenny explained, the long range EVTOL is the next product followed by a transforming flying car. -Producer Tim

Any machine which defies gravity is risky. Unlike most combustion helicopters, this has redundant power and can operate even if motors fail or strike birds. Electric motors are much more reliable than complex internal combustion power plants. -Producer Tim
