Sona was constantly hovering midlane because she was trying to mirror Pyke's MIA. And she stood around a couple of times trying to get the support item proc (execute minion + share gold).

I started taking a similar build as support shen, following the same reasoning for the setup but this way guardian and summoner heal get full value. Could be pretty cooked setup for adc shen with fasting senna also, haven’t tested. Very spicy build, keep cooking bro.

if you play support Shen you can run solstice sleigh which heals and speeds you up as well, same setup otherwise. IMO Shen is designed to be a "roaming peel-support with global ult" that runs HP with heal and shield power. More HP = better shields, more heal and shield power = better healing and shields. With enough AH and Ultimate hunter his ult can be an 80 sec or lower cooldown.

I have been playing heal, tele shen mid. It has awakened me to this disciplined way of playing in some miraculous way. I dont become tilted or pay attention to teammates at all. I wait to capatilzd on mistakes and find myself playing less overly agressive or greedily. I have always found I play and win more games in a supportive style and the Shen mid is waaaay less tilting than Shen top. I thank you and wish you the best for granting me (and all of us) such knowledge.

Sona's roams mid only make sense if you consider the gamestate as a whole; They already won bot lane, meaning Ashe should never lose 1v2 to a Pyke and Jhin. Pyke probably knows they can't win the 1v2 so he's going to roam and create leads elsewhere. Even though Ashe is permanently ahead of Jhin, Sona still needs to stack her passive, atlas, and tear ~ which she can't do in bot lane because Jhin and Pyke will never be able to threaten an Ashe who knows how to keep their lead. If Ashe doesn't take damage, Sona can't heal/shield for stacks, and it would be too risky to walk up for Q and get hooked, which would destroy the lead they got. The only option she has is to go mid, where she can free farm stacks off Shen while being in a position to match Pyke's roams. She's probably thinking; Bot lane is already won, so going to help CS, sustain, and poke for her mid will not only allow Bot to keep that lead, but make sure mid can't drop that lead by forcing Pyke to match her instead, as well as letting her stack all her passives. It's a win-win-win situation. The EXP sharing might be annoying, but she's probably assuming that you were going to build tank support or enchanter items, which are 700- 1000 gold cheaper than mages', and decided that the EXP tradeoff would be worth since you would both get your item spikes sooner anyways. All support items have effects that can make up for or match a Laner's levels. Staff of Flowing Water alone generates 6122g worth of stats while costing 2300 ~ easily outvaluing any amount of stats gained from 1 or 2 levels.

Sona should not have stayed mid at 4:04 when Shen tp back for exp and farm. She provided nothing mid while enemy pyke chose to return bot from mid and burnt Ashe's flash at 4:22. Sona's stack should not take priority over Shens exp or Ashes summons. I'd even argue it should have been reportable to troll a game like that.

@@failflash5563 Staying mid to freeze the wave for your laner is maybe the most normal play this entire game. She only lets the wave crash because Shen TPs, and then takes her stacks and leaves. Petu fighting over the minions is actually what forces her to stick around even longer and divides the exp further. Ashe flashes because that is the correct play to save her shutdown when she's mispositioned without vision of Pyke and J4. Sona's presence in lane would not have changed that play. Ashe may have even been emboldened to step up further, guaranteeing Pyke's play if she were there. Vision and Wards are one of the most important resources in the game. Delaying the entire team's objective control over one laner's exp would absolutely be trolling. Sona gets bot fed, suppresses the enemy mid, jungle, and pressures their support to follow her. Ashe gets caught once trying to ego a 1v3 at 7:55, but because the enemy mid, jungle, bot, and support are so far behind, their lead is barely dented. You're acting like Shen's exp is as impactful as a Kayle's or a Kassadin's. It might be if Petu was trying to carry the game through splitpushing, but he's already committed the game to being a Redemption>Moonstone teamfight support, which leverages item effects over levels. Their team ending the game 6 levels ahead, with Ahri and Shen being even should already tell you those early exp trades were worth it.

@@Aguardiente 1) at 4min Sona could not freeze lane even if she wanted because Ahri would have interfered. Also sona knew Shen would TP because once it cooldown again at 10 min it became unleashed tp, anyone would have tp back to mid there. Thats absolutely troll move for Sona to go mid and stay for stacks, thats why xPetu kept spamming pings. 2) The only way for Ashe to not "misposition" was to tower hug and miss exp and gold. It was unreasonable for a winning lane to give up priority and this happened because Sona was not there. I agree that Ashe was too greedy there but if Sona went bot with Ashe in first place, this would not have happened. Sona was absolutely more useful at bot than mid at 4min. 3) At 7min it was reasonable enough to shove together but at 4min it only hurt both mid and bot lane. I'm not arguing Sona's decision later on and I never did in my previous comment. However, that move at 4min was definitely a troll move at higher ranks. Any mid player would have spammed pings at her.

@@failflash5563 There is only one support in the game that would not be able to freeze that wave, and their name is Yuumi. Everyone else has either the HP, damage reduction, heals, or shields to tank a full combo from a level 4 Ahri + the wave. Most mid laners Master+ will let their supports freeze if it means they can save their TP. It's such an obvious play that Petu only misses because he was commentating. Ashe doesn't need to hug tower to get exp or gold. Exp range is farther than her W. She's mispositioned because she tries to all-in Jhin without vision of J4 or Pyke, who everyone with access to the minimap would see left mid ~15 seconds ago, instead of just farming at a reasonable distance. Ashe scales harder than Jhin, and is ahead of him. There is 0 reason to be posturing that aggressively when you're already guaranteed to be stronger than him for the rest of the game. Sona being there would not have changed the outcome. It is not Sona's responsibility to make sure Ashe plays correctly. This mindset is the plague of low elo. If Ashe is misplaying without Sona's presence, how would Sona's presence make them any less of a misplay? They'll still be misplays - only now Sona is there doing nothing instead of suppressing the enemy mid, support and jungle. I would even argue that everything Sona's minute 4 roam set up won them the game.

If you wanted to take this build further while it's worse in lane which might be a deal breaker Font of Life is AMAZING for this kind of setup. The auto heal chains with moonstone making is so after you Taunt your team is basically being shoveled with heals if Ashe focusses on of them. It gives you some use for your stats and items after you're out of Ult, Heal, and redemption! I do it a lot with Soraka and unlike full enchanter Soraka you'd have some HP to buff the base heal as well. Fun video tho, very funny and neat build I love seeing full support Shen shields! Seeing you confusion tilt over the Sona and go through the 5 states of grief over the span of 5 minutes was funny too 🤣

My guess as to the Sona's intentions: -Pyke + Jhin Vs. Sona + Ashe is a real bad matchup but only for Sona, Ashe can just volley spam to keep wave managed -Sona having a speed boost in kit automatically makes her solid at roaming. I imagine she was hoping to be your medic temporarily mid and siphon XP while Pyke roams so she, Ashe, and Jhin would be 6 around the same time but Pyke would have ult a minute or so late. -the absolute fiesta of everyone and their mother being around midlane made everyone's plans but yours ironically not work out, so she ends up overstaying and becoming a mild hinderance instead of your nurse to heal you against Ahri's poke. But that's just a guess from my intuition as a sometimes-support player.

hey petu, I have been thinking about a illegal build technology for a while that could work for toplane : because shen e and titanic hydra deals more damage based on your total health -> you run asap heartsteel to gain a lot of hp then you buy titanic hydra For this I thought maybe of treasure hunter rune on secondary could help rush it because those are really expensive items. That's also why I thought doing it toplane is better and because it's more often melee champions Thanks !

Heal & Shield Power should increase Taste of Blood's healing. What it doesn't work on is regen, all kinds of lifesteal (spell/omnivamp, etc.) and incoming heals/shields. Revitalize, on the other hand, works on pretty much everything, except regen.

I think Sona was trying to match pyke roams. Most of the times she roamed mid, pyke was MIA and/or ashe was at base. As a support player (Shen support busted right now) if you don't match the enemy support roam you will get flamed lol. Pinging MIA isn't enough anymore.

I randomly started going enchanter shen support rushing redemption into mikaels if needed, otherwise skip mikaels and go moonstone and dawncore into warmogs and get 1500 hp ults off that put another like 1k shield on someone else. 5-1 so far. My stat line is terrible, but the rest of my team always near perfect score.

I tried running this build but I feel like you don't get enough value off of moonstone outside of your ultimate. If moonstone worked on your passive I would be much more interested in building it. I'm also curious why petu isn't a fan of aftershock shen. It is true that you should be taking less damage anyway when you taunt, but (assuming you don't get instantly blown up) you can delay your w till after aftershock pops to increase the total amount of damage you are reducing. The w cooldown is long enough that in a lot of situations you aren't going to get more than 1 off anyway, so I think the resistances are significant. Particularly in midlane where a lot of champs' damage is going to be coming from abilities anyway. The damage is also a nice plus.

Seems like part of it is Sona is trying to match the Pyke roam, so you don't get 1v2-ed/2v3-ed. Ashe doesn't need Sona against Jhin anyway ( since they csn both just play far back and faem safely, especially when you can track the enemy jungler so you know if they want to dive your botlane or not )
