definitely Chess, I play both but Yugioh is way more 'build the best deck then make an unbreakable board turn 1'. Whilst Chess is way more like an actual strategy game, albeit white gets an inherent advantage. I love both of them, but playing at high tiers in Yugioh without running a deck pumped with 'Meta Cards' like Ash, Called By, other cards, is almost impossible. As in you try and play a monster and they negate it, then you try and play a spell and they negate it. Yugioh suffers from a very steep power creep, and the meta doesn't really ever change. I, personally, am too lazy to play competitively (not claiming that I could) but there are many decks that just lockdown your field and basically leave you unable to have a turn (ignoring certain cards like DRNM). Meanwhile Chess is way more Back and Forth, white can be up 9 points (equivalent of a queen) and have advantage all game, but all it takes is one blunder for Black to win in one turn. That might be an exaggerated example, but I'm sure you can see my point. I would highly recommend both games, Chess is mentally challenging and a great strategic experience, and Yugioh can still be a lot of fun, whether you're only playing casually, or if you're running the best control decks in the current meta, they're both great experiences.
