As a Biden voter I can easily rationalize my decision without nebulous feelings. And usually when people have an interesting take, even if just slightly interesting, he keeps it in. In fact you can see, the few people he lets speak a little more in the video seem to either be the most intelligent ones or the ones with the dumbest takes ever because it's entertaining to show that. The rest, as you say he cuts right before it gets to policy questions, and i'm convinced he does so because almost all of em' just faceplant when that question comes up, he probably doesn't even ask most about policy cause he knows they won't have anything based on how they answered the "who will you vote for and why" question

He died the way he lived, chasing an escaping slave over a river and drowning. As much as it sucks that guy is one of my ancestors, he got what was coming to him and believe me - it's not like his family NOW have benefited from it. I mean, I was in homeless and women's shelters a lot as a child with my mom and brother, eventually after getting off of welfare we lived in a terrible trailer park. After a lot of work, we now own a home. And people would want to take that away from my mom and I because of that guy? When we literally have NOTHING that could have possibly "helped" us that was handed down by slave owners? Wouldn’t it be the moral thing to right the past so everyone can move forward into a level playing field. There are victims complexes, however there are also millions of families born into generational poverty on the basis of discrimination. The conversation shouldn’t just end at a simple stop being a victim argument. I feel this is the only country there’s a stigma to talking about the past. Also Germany has given reparations to its Jewish community and acknowledges its past. As if they could forget because in schools/our curriculum this is something that we always teach the next generations. However once talks about slavery-Jim crow arise this same energy is shifted for some reason. All this is to say, keeping a dialogue open is the least we can do in attempts to solve this generational cycle, whether that be generational trauma or victim complex, to make this country not constantly feel like we’re on the precipice of a civil war.
