Thank you for the review. I honestly did not have the same user experience as others have. My unit was delivered on time with no issues. And my glasses as well as the adapter work just as it was intended to. Since having them it has gotten a firmware update which resolved my FPS issue while using it with my steam deck as well as those USB-C hubs that were not outputting audio. This has been a new add-on to my daily go bag which includes( Steam Deck, Nreal Air, and a power bank) I am looking forward to the next version of these AR Glasses to be developed.

@@theVRpilot I definitely prefer using the nreal air - I'm not terribly impressed with the steam deck screen tbh. Keep in mind that at least for the time being, the picture will move around as you move your head. Hopefully in the future they can do AR similar to on an Android phone, where you can fixate a screen in place so it stays when you move your head.

Recent update, hold down the brightness + button until you hear the 2nd beep and it'll allow 120hz. And to enable hdmi/DP audio, do the same but on the birghtness -

The best use case is having a compatible Samsung with Dex mode. You can multi task and have a big window. The second is with game consoles like the switch and steam deck. I also have an m1 macbook pro with multiple monitor setup. Its ok but its still beta.

So i use the fold 4 and got these glasses the other day. Not fully experimented with it yet but the message you said that came up with the pixel came up on my phone. But, saying that the reason it came up was because Samsung Dex would open up, I close that down and It worked. But, as you say there's not much to do in AR space at the moment, none of the third party games really work with the fold yet. So it's mainly KZbin as you say. AR casting is brilliant though and managed to play my ps5 using remote play, Samsung Pro buds live 2 and my pad all connected to Bluetooth. The battery did go down pretty quickly when using all of those but had a decent amount of time for myself. Gets warm on the left side as well. Still, fun glasses!

OK I don't know who this guy is but I purchased these AR Glasses and I love them. They have been updated with firmware and that tells me the company is on point with keep this product updated. They feel great and look good. The picture quality is awesome and connecting it to my Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 I get Dex in a 200 inch screen. One of the best Tech product I've purchased this year.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I am very happy with them. They were a bit tricky to get working on my Android phone the first time, but after reinstalling the app it has been flawless. The only issues/improvements I see are: a) the AR games for the most part do not work for me. I usually see a Unity loading screen (most devs clearly use Unity to develop their apps/games) then the game crashes. b) and this is not really a bug or anything, let's call it a feature request: On the Steam Deck, I would love to be able to get a virtual screen that is fixed in place so I can move my head around without the image moving along with it. This works in youtube on the android AR app for instance, so hopefully it can be possible to create something similar for Steamdeck.

great review. Should have search more for videos that also explain the problems with the xreal air. Have the xreal air 2 and super blurry. Will need to check again with reading glasses, maybe this helps. Not sure, but I hoped for more than just a small screen on the face. 1920x1080. But if you sit in front of your monitor you can pretty good compare the size. And the glasses are smaller. Videos are very good. But wanted to work on it, but for now too blurry.

Great review. Is the resolution good enough to work with text for a longer time? I am a software dev and I would love to use something like this when traveling (I cant handle the bad ergonomics and the small screen of a laptop for longer times).

I am also a software dev. These glasses are basically mandatory for using a laptop! I got these a few days ago (I can't handle the ergonomics/screen size) My eyes are very bad so I can't really tell if they are good for regularfont sizes - I use a screen magnifier - the image definetly looks sharp. I'll get a friend with 20/20 vision to try them and tell me how well he reads while wearing them

Thank you so much for being the ONLY non-shill reviewer I have found for these, earned a sub from me for sure. One thing though, I bought and used the adapter and it SUCKS! It can't be charged while in use and the battery lasts less than 2 hours. It also gets VERY hot. I tried several other HDMI to USB-C adapters and none of the worked. I wound up sending it back to Amazon along with the glasses.

Yeah you go to an optician and can be changed. What I am myself asking is, if I can change it by my own. I habe two glasses so I just would use the older ones. My Nreal is coming in about 1-2 hours - so maybe I can give than a more detailed answer

be careful in the UK. After getting mine, I took them to specsavers and they refused to do it, as well as a number of other smaller opticians. The only real place that WILL do it is an online shop that charges an extra £100, so factor that into the cost.

My question is…the Nebula app is not available to download on a iPhone via the Apple Store or in the Google store via a Galaxy tablet…so are the glasses still plug & play via the iPhone adapter? If you have a PC that has a fully functionable usb c port (usually modern laptops have this) - it's just plug&play. The NReal Air shows up as second screen, very convinient!

They are supposedly making the nebula for PC. Right now if you connect to a windows pc, it will just be a second monitor. Really not useful because that screen follows you so if you look at your first screen it follow you there. So it’s not a good second monitor. Best use is to watch KZbin movies on it. Or you can use it as a work station with Google docs, with another KZbin music video. Basically very useful to multitask with multiple browser windows. Turns you android phone into a work station. Make sure what you need to do is available on a web browser.

I returned my glasses almost immediately. They did not work with my Samsung S22, even though this phone was listed as compatible. The app just kept telling me that an update was needed but could not do it. Nreal's support contact was useless.

It works fine with Steam Deck but the lack of head tracking is terrible. You will likely get sea sick playing first person because your head naturally want to turn to look at something but your joystick view isn’t synced.

I think compatibility is hardly on NReal itself, if more manufacturers kept to full standard usb c specs it would just work -> yes, looking especially at you Nintendo with the weirdo SWITCH usb c implementation. Hope we will see cheaper and better adapter options to solve some of these particular issues.

The glasses are recognized as one external monitor. You can configure it as mirror or extended screen just like any other monitor.

First, no need for that, actually there is no app for windows at all, they work as a second monitor with direct connection so nothing to config At the moment if you plan on use them for windows, they only work as second monitor, BUT you have to be sure that your laptop usb-c have display capabilities and not only data transfer, also the glasses are not currently working for desktop PC at all, so no chance on getting them connected directly to a graphic card, only some specific/modern laptops should work. The nebula app right now is only available for android 10+ phones with at least Snapdragon 845 and for MacOS with M1 or M2 chipset. (An intel mac will not work), anyways keep in mind they officially announced a couple of weeks ago to be working on adding nebula to windows, so maybe we are going to enjoy the full AR with DoF soon.

@@HighTechCheck that's the resolution of the head-mounted displays. What is displayed is ... a different thing. The "big screen" displayed in front of you eyes doesn't uses all the pixels. Otherwise we would see a fixed image that would take all the space. So what we see is a rasterised image of what comes in via USB-C. The device is "limited" to 1080p because that's the closest resolution to the head-mounted displays, so thing keeps getting sharp that way. It would be possible to go bigger (in resolution), maybe, with the new 120Hz refresh rate : by displaying the "big screen" part by part, the final image could (and i say "could") show a 4K image at 30 or 60Hz. Rasterised, obviously, but it may keep a decent quality. And with a 50 inches 4K resolution, the working space with a Mac or a PC, would be very useful. I can't test that as i don't own a pair of Xreal glasses, but maybe i will buy it soon. This idea is like displaying a 4K screen on a 1080p monitor. Lots of people tested that, with decent results (thanks to AMD Super Resolution option, or nVidia DSR). It will never offer the sharpness of a real 4K monitor, but if the result is decent, and allows to work with apps that needs a big display (Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, After Effect, etc) ... that could be a game changer. Sadly, absolutely no one that owns a Xreal Air glasses tested it :(
