XS DXT2 Night Sights - EDC Perfection?

XS are literally my favorite sights. I’m older and my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be but, the big dots are so easy to pick up!

I love Big Dots. I’ve been using them for years. Most of my self defense handguns have the Big Dots on them. For up close and personal they can’t be beat. If you don’t believe me try some one on one with blue guns. Up close, and quick, nothing is faster.

Awesome video showing and explaining the XS sights. Been wanting to get some just been on the fence about them. First seen them 10 plus years ago at a Tactical Response class. Def considered to try them out… I run Ameriglo Protectors and Trijicon HD.

Good stuff, I've been runnin xs standard dot 24/7s on my glock 23 for almost 10 years, absolutely love them. I recently got some for my glock 45 standard dot but gen 2s I guess. They seem very nice but are a little taller then my old ones, guess I'll have to see how they do. But the thing I like about xs sights is they're fast and easy to use, I tell people that ask about mine that they're basically the red dots of the irons lol. If I remember correctly, I was told they're based off of sights used on rifles back in the day, guys used in Africa for dangerous game hunting. They used a similar rear sight and a big brass bead front, very fast and simple setup.

Hello SPN, and thanks for another good review! I'm not fond of the OEM night-sights on my P365-380, the front sight is so small and dim that I have problems finding it in limited light situations. Thanks to this video, looks to me like I'll be putting XS DXT2 sights on my Sig, and I-Dots on my next EDC gun which will probably be the Taurus GX4 Carry...(I don't use optics)

I think you'll be happy with them. Most people love them, but there are a small percentage of people (like myself) that just don't like them. Have known many people to buy them and then just end up not keeping them, because they just don't work for some people I guess. I think the majority of people that use them actually end up preferring them though and install them on several firearms.

They're called XS, because they're XSively large. Have only ever heard good things about them, but I'm not a fan of them myself... but that's just because my limited experience with them was bad. just couldn't figure out the sight picture to reliably hit the target. I thought they might be okay for self defense if you're not planning on shooting long range, but I could barely hit crap with them at just 25 yards.

You might of had the xs BIG dot sights, xs makes sone that are called standard dots aswell, ive been usin them almost 10 years, they work very well. They are smaller then the big dots but still very usable and fast, ive shot mine out to 50 yards or so with relative ease. These are not precision match sights, defensive and speed is what theyre for. Same style of sights used by dangerous game hunters of Africa years ago. Ive personally takin coyotes, beavers and raccoons with my glock 23 with xs sights over the years, they work well.

What's a good high visibility sight paint.? the standard front sight on my 92x RDO Compact is anything but, I don't really want to change the sight. The rear sight is fine.

I like these sights... I have the xs big dot with green photoluminescence around the tritium... but there's 1 thing I don't like is that they shoot 2 inches high for me at 10 yards... Which makes me feel would be very inaccurate down range ... Kinda sighted like a military M4 with a 200 yard zero on a combat pistol most won't use beyond 25 yard's... Don't know if it's just me though but this has only started for me since I changed these sights... I still like them though but I have to split the front vile in half to be dead nuts at 10 yards instead of the entire front vile doting the i ....

I have the Ameriglo cap sights and I had major trouble stalling them on my G17 so far as I had to file so much off the rear sight that the rear paint sits level with the slide 🤷🏻‍♂️

Love your channel. Love the videos but we are gonna have to agree to disagree on this one. These are the worst sights I've ever tried. If you come across 7 different lighting situations you'll get 7 seven different sight pictures. When pulling the gun up to ready you never know what kinda sight picture your going to see. It's even worse in very low light situations. The line in the rear is super small and hard to see and the front dot in this situations is an absolute mess. The tritium is way to small and it slightly illuminates the outer part making for a blurry mess. The whole point of these sights is to help you concentrate on the front sight but in low light it's blurry no matter how hard you concentrate on it. I'm pulling them back off and going back to my Meprolight FT bullseye front sight WITH a blacked rear sight. People are sleeping on this sight. It is bright no matter what the situation is. They key is don't remove the rear sight like they say. Keep it. The best best sight system I've had in the 57 years on this earth. The brightest sight picture you'll get without an optic. I got optics. I hate them. Use them for range toys only.

These are defensive sights and they have a learning curve to them. It took me 200 or so rounds on a weekend to figure them out, but after that they are extremely intuitive and fast. Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are having a problem lining up the illuminated line on the rear with the round front (making a lollipop) you need more training. You should be able to, with just about any sight, bring the gun up to a firing position and when you look at your target, the sights should be pretty much aligned already. That seems to be what you are doing with your Meprolight sights, and these are easier and quicker to line up than those. If not, you need more range time with a good instructor.
