In this video I balance the carbs using a homemade manometer

Love the vids. Keep’em coming! I tried this water bottle balancing. There was some “splashing” that occurred inside of the bottles. The “splashed” water particulates got sucked up into intake and into the cylinders. I would recommend using ATF oil instead of water to anyone who might be considering trying this method. This may reduce splashing and if fluid gets sucked into the cylinders, better than water…

Thanks mate. Good idea with the ATF oil.

Nice homemade vacuum sync tool! I like how visually pleasing it is to watch the fluid level out. Looks like lots of fiddling though!

Just a casual box of mines I'll set right here while I tweak the carbs on my bike...... also, thanks for this video, building my own manonononometer to do this now!

You perfectly explained how to balance out the carbs thanks so much for making everything easy enough for beginners!

Carbs seem like voodoo to some people, to me many times they are far easier to understand than F/I.
@2wheelworkshop2 жыл бұрын
They aren't overly complex but tuning can be very tedious and I definitely can't claim to be an expert.

The first Time in 35years of XS i see someone built and use the Bottlemethode in the right way 👍 but oil ... maybe wasteoil will make it more relax and also a small nozzle in the hoses let the Storm in the bottles calm dowm☝️🧐 But think about: you just cover up the "unperfects" of each cilynder, did the same on the bench, using a vacuumcleaner, then compare it on the running engine!
@2wheelworkshop Жыл бұрын
Oil sounds like a good idea. I had another viewer suggest ATF as well.

@@2wheelworkshop... what ever, oil fresh Automatictransmissiofluid ore used, it needs to squeeze the air in the hoose ...

After you have done the carbs just use the shaft of a small drillbit to adjust the butterflys mechanicly. There is not much more to adjust afterwards.
@2wheelworkshop2 жыл бұрын
I have seen that method. I will give it a go next time.
@uwefriedrich34972 жыл бұрын
@@2wheelworkshop It works quiet well. I have done this with aircraftengines as well and have checked afterwards with the gauges - evverything was fine.

@@2wheelworkshop So the ends of the tubes going into the carb boot are just at the mouth of the bottle ? And then just a tube going from one to other equally down the bottom and how did ya make the stoppers
@2wheelworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Correct for the tubes. I just used duct tape rolled up and sealed with hot melt glue for the stoppers.

@@2wheelworkshop sweet I will be doing this exact method as soon as my vacuum carb holders come in the mail . Thank you I really didn’t want to have to buy a sync kit. I watch all your videos I have a 79 scrambler build 🤙🏼✌🏼

Nice video, it looks like you may have two different styles of pilot jet there. It’s hard to tell in the video but it looks like the pilot jet you removed from your carbs did not have the little holes along the side of them like the new pilot jets do. They will interchangeable fit however the two styles of pilot jet work in different ways. You must have the pilot jets that match the fuel bowl your using, if that makes sense. Might be worth a little research. If the pilot jets are the same style then forget I said anything. Good video, thanks

No problem, I hope I’ve helped you like your videos have helped me. I hope I don’t make you pull your carbs apart for nothing. Thanks again

@@2wheelworkshop following the rulebook is the only way to go. When Doing custom cars it depends on the engineer you have doing the paperwork, some are difficult to deal with some stick to the letter of the law but a special few will work with you to to achieve greatness

@@2wheelworkshop I am thinking about making a cb600 bobber out of an 09 hornet. Luckily all the rear frame is bolted on so there is no modification to the chassis so it will be a little bit easier to engineer. Cant wait to see what you build next.
