I think one major factor for Balrog is that he is extremely good in stages that your unit are not going survive and are expected to be replaced like in Daboo, Hannaya, Cat God, King Wah Wah, etc. stages. He is the best damn Uber in these kinds of stages because neither spam nor backliners can survive in these stages, you units like Super Rare which have strength in the individual units while still being good cooldown. Balrog is basically a Super Rare with Uber stats.

This is a really good way to put it when I say Balrog obliterates any stage that traditional attackers can’t handle. Being a disposable/ easily cycled attacker and being one of the single best units at it is why he’s an instant auto-pick for one lineup challenges and general lineups.

I find it so funny that, many years ago, he was considered mid because, at the time, single target equals bad dps unit with how the stages relied on spamming enemy units to be considered hard. While many units fell from grace after the game design changes (specially Jizo), Balrog has risen into the hall of fame

Balrog gets a lot of bonus points as an overpowered unit for his uniqueness, being a spammable, single-target powerhouse and not just another Uberfest unit. I love this guy.

One of my favourite things about Balrog (which you surprisingly didn't mention in the video despite it being present in all of the gameplay) is his synergy with thunderbolt cannon. Timing it correctly with strengthened Balrog can give you 500k + damage on a boss, which is so hilariously broken I can't Also, Balrog isn't exclusively good for taking out bosses; getting Balrog to hit a threatening peon can be just as if not more useful for beating a stage as hitting a boss, as eliminating a difficult peon early can basically guarantee victory and prevent bosses from pushing at all. Consequently I think that Balrog has the highest potential out of any uber in the top 4

I’m gonna assume that in your video, you’re going to explain that the reason why Balrog doesn’t have area attack is because it’s already too good without it, especially in late game where enemies are spammed much less, and are far more bulky, which is where Balrog would thrive.

Kasli the Bane is a very powerful unit when it comes to stats. The combination of high health and 5 knockbacks leads to her staying alive for a long time when summoned. Thanks to the powerful Surge, she is also able to deliver high and consistent damage to midrangers and backliners, such as Le'noir and R.Ost, while also intercepting incoming peons and keeping enemies that are extremely easy to knockback at bay, such as Gory variants, Brollow, Rain D. and Mr. Puffington. Lastly, she can even be used for "base trapping": if you have her hit a base and trigger a boss wave, her Surge will instantly hit and severely cripple anything that comes out, sometimes making a massive difference. Just remember that due to her blindspot and most of her damage being concentrated in the surge, she will not perform too well against Zombies, short ranged pushers like Bore or One Horn, as well as surge-immune enemies. However, a tanky unit can cover her blind spot, making her usage even more viable. Damage isn't all she has though: her Curse ability lets her disable enemies' Knockback, Slow, Freeze, Weaken, Warp, Curse, Dodge Attack and Toxic abilities. Since it has good uptime, this makes her even more useful against enemies with annoying abilities like Super Metal Hippoe, Li'l Doge, Crazed Axe Cat, Henry, Winged Pigge, Gobble, Heavenly Herald Papuu, Bakoo and all Relics. There are, however, rare instances in which her Curse ability can be counterproductive, such as against some units with Warp, who would become unable to warp any attackers they reach to safety. This is most notable against Final Boss Giga God. Her immunities to Wave Attacks, Warp, Curse, Weaken and Surges further help her with the threat posed by such abilities, especially in Uncanny Legends, Cats of the Cosmos and The Aku Realms where they are prominently active. Overall, she's an extremely powerful unit that holds her edge all the way into the endgame and has almost no drawbacks.

The best part of balrog is easily the thunderbolt cannon, with perfect timing on a level 30 cannon balrog can sometimes get 2 hits in, which is almost 1 million damage for just 2250 and a decently-timed thunderbolt cannon.

Really hard to overstate just how valuable his usage on mid-health peons is. Even if he doesnt get big hits on the boss him taking out a bunch of annoying little dudes like lil bore, dogenstein or wild doge makes it much easier to control the enemy. That's something that for me separates him from the likes of lufalan and lasvoss when it comes to being boss killers. Kinda goes with your section about sending him out alone.

Even as someone who dislikes using balrog, when I checked the ubers I used on 3 star UL, he turned out to be in 4th place, behind lasvoss, muu and ramiel, in that order. I dont have the other "big 3". But it really puts into perspective how despite being an uber i dont like, ive used him so much. I personally think he is the best out of those 4 you mentioned (man i hate dasli and the phonos) but I'd also make an arguement with Lasvoss, who i find very good due to his combo as well as his instakill attacks, specially when paired with force-closing the app. Anyways, really good video lol. The big 4 for me seem to simply be the best in the some of main categories of units. Dphono is the ultimate cc, Phono is the ultimate sniper, Dasli is the ultimate aoe dps and balrog is the ultimate single dps. They simply all have a different area of brilliance with balrogs requiring the most planning to work. I feel this leads to perception of him being quite different to the other 3.

Yep, he's really good once he's TALENTED. You can still use him with low level talents but Max talents makes the difference. You can use him as some sort of tanker, main damage dealer, secondary dps or for rush stats by destroying the base as quick as possible or removing a dangerous high hp enemy as quick as possible. Only downside is his low range and single target which means you have to make a lineup which supports balrog such as wave units to clear peons and cc such as weaken or freeze to allow balrog to land some hits in. And of course like abahamut, thunderbolt is his best friend.

I think something not mentioned in the video is the uniqueness of balrog. No other unit (except for maybe yukimura) will ever perform as well close combat as Balrog, while many specialists or other top tiers could replace dasli phono and dphono in a loadout with little consequence most of the time. Balrog stands as the ultimate specialist while the other 3 are the ultimate generalists, which depending on how you look at it, could make Balrog stand above the rest.

That’s true, you can find units of similarity even if they are not perfect (Uril, Daliasan, Aphro, Mitama, etc). But Balrog has no true replaceable counterpart. If you’re ranking ubers based off of owning a wider collection then Balrog’s importance exponentially increases, even more so if you are a seed tracker who gets to choose which ubers you want in your collection.

For the start off thing, honestly that niche is more/less invalidated by cancan double bounty but ig that's just a minor thing anyways. As for the high skill floor, I heavily disagree, since balrog can just be randomly Spawned and U can expect him to get a big hit in, however balrog IS a unit with a high skill celling, since U can time him and other types of support to get an additional hit on bosses or to chain them completely, nd other stuff like that. Am I an unapologetic Phonoa user? Yes. Do I believe he's perfect? Nuh-uh. For as much as I love Phonoa's kit, even I gotta admit he's got weaknesses, and big ones at that. Units like Dolphina, Mr. Mole, and Tackey can easily melt his HP if he can't handle them. But you know who can handle them? That's right, Balrog. Sure, Phonoa might not have many of Balrog's weaknesses, but Balrog also doesn't have many of Phonoa's own weaknesses. Not only that, but I highly doubt Phonoa would've been NEARLY as good as Balrog for Doremi's revenge. (Though I only got Phonoa after clearing every advent stage so I can't confirm his value for sure) They're both insane, but fill different roles. Save yourself the time. TLDR: Balrog can carry late game stages easily you just need to work around him and clear peons with slime or uril. Thunderblast cannon is really good with him. And on boss stages, it’s pretty easy to demolish them.

At what point should I go for the Brutal Advents and Royal Guard?

Royal Guard can be done in early UL as long as you have Li’l Mohawk crit to get through March to Death. Brutal advents should be done in late or end of UL 1 crown.

Valentine Balrog doesn’t have enough stats to be good. Maybe decent on lower magnification stages combined with overboost but nothing like OG Balrog.

His stats should not be touched because they are already providing too much value. I would go the slime route by giving him more range and higher speed, nothing else. If it’s a UT then speed improvement should probably be the only talent.

I am somewhat mid gamr on my 3rd account-cotc 2, past saint red fox, and have a balrog at level 45, 40+5 with max talents, and that account is just hilarious because balrog just wipes everything at once, I also have extremely high leveled gaia 40+3 and amaterasu 40+4 , so basically I'm set for power creeping 99 percent of all stages in the known universe. My user rank is like 8k on it just because I have collected every single daily/event login ever and just got everything maxed as much as I could
