XSR900 FULL EXHAUST (KELPI) and TUNE (VCYCLENUT) Ride Along: It’s FAST.

In this video we take the Kelpi equipped XSR900 for a ride. We find out how loud the Kelpi exhaust is, if there is any perceivable performance increase, if there is any droning or buzzing, etc. In conjunction with the exhaust, this bike also has a VCYCLENUT tune. Of course we know this XSR is already a fast bike, but as always, there is room for improvement.

In 2022, the XSR900 was new so I couldn't find one at any dealer, so I went with the Ducati V2. However, a few months ago I got another R1 since I sold my 2004 a few years ago. Anyways, ride safe and keep on making good motorcycle content.

Decel popping is probably due to the AIS if the bike comes fitted with one stock. The AIS injects air into the exhaust so the bike can meet emissions regulations. If the bike has one and you remove it, that should stop the popping. Thats how it is on my '18 R6 anyways

Thanks for the insight! VCyclenut said the current gen CP3's does not have a AIS system. But that makes a lot of sense on why a bike would pop and burbles to meet emission requirements. Emissions are always forcing manufacturers in doing something weird.

Hey man! Fellow new-gen XSR900 owner here. I've got an M4 exhaust and DNA air filter, but no tune yet. Two questions for you when you get the chance: 1) What's your mic setup? Sounds great! 2) Any chance you can do a vid taking the bike to redline in the first few gears? Would love to compare your numbers to mine on a bike without the tune. Could help to compare numbers to some degree. I feel like a lot of flashes for this bike mostly just extend the powerband to the redline, so maybe you only notice a difference when really wringing the bike out? Just spitballing. Love the vids! The few of us with these bikes really do appreciate someone like yourself posting these vids. Not much content out there for the ol' XSR. Keep up the great work!

Hey bro! I’m running a purple panda mic through a GoPro Hero 9 for the on bike footage. Off the bike I’m using a DJI Mic through an iPhone. I’ll try to do more ridealong type format videos which I hope will be helpful to you. I don’t like being too hard on this bike since it’s not mine. As far as this flash it surely carries power longer as opposed to the stock tune. However, the bike runs much better overall. It’s a lot smoother and although the power comes on strong it’s more linear than the stock flash. If you have any questions about flashes I would recommend contacting Vcyclenut directly. He is very responsive to questions and can explain his flash compared to other flashes a lot more clearly and in a more technical manner than I can. I wouldn’t want to misrepresent anything inadvertantly. If you did end up going with the Vcyclenut flash, you won’t be disappointed. I don’t ride this bike very often as it’s not mine, but even I could tell it was a night and day difference from stock. Hope that is helpful. Thank you!

Glad you got to rip on it a bit. Love to see that front wheel come up so easily aha. That buzz between shift and popping on decel does get old pretty fast though. Still a fun bike to ride for sure though

Came up real easy but also controllable at the same time. I like how effortless and predictable it is. Definitely notice that buzzing especially but with earplugs it takes the edge off of it to where it’s not unbearable. Overall, totally fun bike to rip around in.

That’s a very high flow cat. I did a similar system on one of my bikes, it’s MAYBE a 100 cell cat. You can see through the honeycomb very easily

I agree. I don’t even think it’s 100 cells. I actually wasn’t even aware they made cats with a cell count less than 100, but most of my experience is in the car world.

I'm thinking about getting those S2 Concept clip-ons, curious what mirrors do you run with those? Any tank clearance issues? Bike looks+sounds great dude 👍

For a time we ran the stock mirrors inverted. With the stock mirrors in the inverted position it is possible to hit the tank but you’d have to fold them in a weird position to do so. You’d basically have to try to hit the tank with the mirrors. Now we are running the Hindsight mirrors from Kelpi. Great mirrors if you are running the S2 clip-ons. I’ve got a few videos specific to the S2 clip-ons which should give you the detail you are looking for before committing to a purchase. Thank you, hope that helps!

Stock rear sets on these bikes are pretty good really. They also can be adjusted to two separate positions which is nice.

No. You wouldn’t do the exhaust and then a tune. You’d either do it at the same time or you’d flash it first if the tuner deems it safe to do so. In this case, VCYCLENUT indicated it would be completely safe to run the tune on the stock exhaust, so that’s what we did.
