I'm still not over the fact that this man went from sim racing to driving GT4 in the span of what seems like a few years. Not only that, but he'll be participating in the N24 in a few weeks. I can't wrap my head around it. Been a fan since the og FM7 days and been watching the progress in the cart racing all the way to now. This isn't any sort of knock on any on the guys, but I do feel the need to point out that a huge part of the fascination of N24h and NLS is club and amateur racing. If this sorta vid gets you passionate about it, you absolutely can make it happen for yourself too! Again, not to take anything away from anyone, but just to explain why NLS and N24h are so fascinating. It's not just professional racing. It's passion projects and car clubs and racing veterans and all sorts of people.

@@thunderbug8640 what I found online (regarding 2019) in summary was: - There are 23 classes sub divided into 3 groups: Specials, productions and cup - Specials are GT3/GT4 including others grouped into engine capacitance and turbo/non-turbo. - Production cars close to unmodified - Cup for BMW, Caymens and KTMs. Going down the straight this could be been the difference of 120, 150 and 180mph + at a guess. TBH this might not be 100% accurate as I've only been loosely following the event.

I’m constantly telling my mate, Steve’s one of the most underrated drivers in existence. The more pressure you put on him the more dangerous (in a good way) he gets 🤷♂️
@bbbbbbb519 ай бұрын
He definitely steps up when he gets pressured or has some kind of loss against him. Getting screwed by the limiter sparked some of that fire in him

Not to take away anything from Steve, first off. But have you ever heard of Cleetus McFarland? Big KZbinr, and probably the most innately talented wheelman on the planet today. He drag races, he does circle track, he does drifting, he hopped into a trophy truck race and nearly won, on his first time racing those trucks. He's also done well in competitive speedboat races. He flies planes, he flies helicopters.... all at a very high skill level. Basically, if it's got a motor and a driver's seat, Cleetus can hang with the best of them while having decades less experience on the particular vehicle.

@@mikehipperson I dunno, getting your pilots license takes months of dedicated study and hard work. Not to mention he spent a year re-building a race track. And the multiple years it took for him to build his channel to what it is today. It's worth remembering that Cleetus plays a character on camera. It's pretty obvious to me that the actual man behind the character is as hardworking, driven, and dedicated as anyone I've ever seen.

Ok, old companion here from Manuel Metzger (Yes, he is that "new/profi" guy next to our YT-Favs"). I was racing against Manuel Metzger for almost a decade. This guy was above every expected pace wherever we went to. I believe that the very nerdy, european IndoorKartSector is operating on the highest Racing Level around and he simply owned it! So Steve f.e., don´t even think about being able to beat him at karting :D and now we get to the very important, he was always one of the friendliest and smartest people around! An absolute pitty that I was so young before I really got into touch with him at the tracks. Manu, your success untill now made me already so happy and now I´m just speachless to see you next to my, I really don´t know how to call these guys filling up my 30 minutes before I go to bed "stars" :D:P

Obviously this is from the eye of not a racing expert but I feel like Steve has the ability to withstand pressure a lot better than 99% of other drivers in the world. It feels like the guy never makes mistakes and even if he does he regroups from it incredibly quickly. Pressure seems to have no effect on this man which is a rare quality.

Controversial opinion here, but I think GT3s, even though they get a lot of coverage, are still underrated.I think most people don't understand how fast these guys go through corners and how close the fighting gets. In Le Mans its supposed to be the slow class, but seeing actual Lambo's, 911s, Ferraris and BMWs fighting it out with massive amounts of traffic is top notch for me. I don't know a racing series more interesting and daring than NLS/N24 at the moment. Apart from rally, but that is different all together.

Well, seeing as the vast majority of sim racers never get these chances, I'd say that those people still have a point, especially if they are parents trying to get their kids to do homework or other important daily responsibilities instead of gaming 10 hrs a day. And the truth is, having a large social media following gets you a lot more opportunities than having no following and being really good at sims. If Jimmy and Steve had no followers/subscribers, they'd both still be driving karts in the UK instead of GT4 machines in Germany.
