It's surreal seeing the Animal Crossing characters in here as "unreleased game" now. I remember seeing those trophies as a kid thinking they were just made up for Melee but now they're iconic characters from one of the best selling franchises ever.

Lmao it’s so interesting to see Daisy, Meta Knight, Pit, Wario, Squirtle, Charizard, King Dedede, Olimar, Ridley and King K. Rool as trophies in this game before they became actual fighters. AS WELL as seeing Samus Aran’s fafe in the Unmasked Samus trophy telling us what Zero Suit Samus would look like if she was in Melee, AND the Ducks trophy from Duck Hunt, again telling us that’s how the duck would look if Duck Hunt was in Melee.

Let it sink in that the Love and Hate Giant trophies are to this day, the ONLY North American exposure to Doshin the Giant we've ever got in video game form. Not even as spirits in Ultimate which was surprising.

1. Some trophies are became fighter after melee. 2. Some of the characters are in the gamecube. But, as a NES, SNES and N64 graphics. 3. Where's the past Nintendo consoles? 4. I don't think the Goomba model was from the tech demo. 5. "Future Release" means it's coming in 2003. (2 years after the release of Melee) 6. "TOP SECRET" means I'm not sure what item was from. P.S. I don't dislike those. But, I still love it.

38:28 Random fact, but Ayumi's trophy is completely mistranslated: 1-She isn't really the heroine of the series and more so an important secondary character, more so in the second game. The series has a protagonist that you can name that the trophy doesn't mention. 2- The game they are saying she solved the mystery of the death of her friend is the second game in the series, not the first one (it was a prequel though so it's the first one cronologically at least), and she didn't really solve the case, she helped the protagonist to solve it. 3- She never opened a detective agency, she was only 15 after all, what she did was enter the agency where the protagonist and his detective mentor worked at. I looked at the japanese trophy with the translation feature of Google Lens and it seems way more accurate and even mentions the fact that the protagonist exists.

Yes, you are misreading that. It “feeds off” the emotions of the islanders. So it’s the emotions of the islanders that give it nourishment, and it’s not eating them.

That was a licences issues, The Motion Sensor Bomb and Cloaking Device comes from Perfect Dark, Nintendo had the 49% of Rareware at the time and funded those games developement but the rights of that properties aren't owned by Nintendo, in fact if you have the instruction booklet in the second page you can read the next line: Rare Ltd: Certains characters and items from PERFECT DARK and DONKEY KONG COUNTRY 2...... Remember that SSB and SSBM was games that celebrates the Nintendo games and his second parties only, until Brawl that began to add third parties characters
