Anothre great song from a great album - so glad that you "get" XTC as many don't .

Andy is such an underrated guitarist. His songwriting brilliance often overshadows his excellent playing. Great stuff and ALWAYS a joy to see XTC on the channel! Great stuff, JP!!!!! Thank you!

That transition is great. That's what's tough about singling this tracks out. Most of us I assume are used to going into Roundabout to keep the energy going.

This band just didn't miss.

When XTC wants to do pop, they don't mess around! (and of course the lyrical dichotomies are there to just twist things around)
@Roddy196511 ай бұрын
It's what pop should be when it doesn't have to be popular. :)

Crazy that this didn’t make the original American, single LP release.

Not reggae, but definitely a huge Ska influence. A horn section would certainly work well.

The only lp that matters from the only band that matters Listen to cockpit dance mix … it’s awesome

They've got a LOT of LPs that matter... but... I get it. Probably their best.

It will take ten hens. To make the rooster, leave his pen! The only question is, will he find satisfaction then?🤣✌&❤

There ya go again, egging us on, a brethren from another feathering-ing. Sooner or later the hens are too quick to catch. :(

Apparently, this doesn’t make it on the Single LP version but this is one of my favorites of the album.

Yeh, fun track. The band also released a weird extended version of this.

Not sure what album you'll do next from XTC but you should do their first album White Music..Totally different from what you've heard so far..in a good way.

Drums and Wires or Oranges and Lemons would be good, also!

Love those Wes Montgomeryesque octaves. Andy played them? Not surprised. The main vibrating guitar lines are very cool too. I think my least favorite part is the name of the song but I’ll live.

Great reaction of my least favorite track in the album. That was the first song recorded for the album. Thanks JP.

The whole band fuckin' kills this. Two guitars, bass and drums, pure, propulsive ear candy. Beneath the simpler pro-women's-lib message, I think the lyrics contain a critique of what would today be called "girlboss feminism" - Andy sees the male-dominated world of 1982 as heading for a violent extinction, and he's saying that the way forward is not for women to simply rise to positions of power as soldiers, cops, CEOs, and oppressors, but rather for men and women alike to abandon the pursuit of power and domination and instead embrace what might be called more traditionally feminine, nurturing ideals.

Not far from Biblical ideals then?
@sylvanm421611 ай бұрын
@@HippoYnYGlaw Certainly many have used the bible to justify the entrenchment of patriarchal power and domination... but like many things, it probably depends on how you read it.

I am thinking dance music. Strong on rhythm/light on lyrics. I won't wax poetic over it. It wasn't awful.

Here, I thought it was about a handjob.

@@jeffbrown-hill7739 We all react to things differently. A different reviewer reacted to another song I had always taken serious. Their interpretation understood it as a light hearted and funny tune. I checked the lyrics again. I remain less impressed than you are.

@@michaelfrank2266That, to me, is what makes music such a beautiful thing. There are no "wrong" opinions, for it is all subjective. There are more informed and less informed opinions, but even that is not always an arbiter for determining whose opinion carries the most weight.
