When Black Sea album came out my brother and i use to blast respectable street on his car stereo system,2 10" subwoofers, 4 6x9" for mids and highs ,bi amplification and stand alone electronic crossover ,this was 1985 and in Texas rap music was in full bloom or boom if you will,but we would blow every car off the road with XTC !!!!Those were the days!! Not many people in Texas that we knew of were listining to XTC,but we flew the flag with pride and still do!!!

Thanks Mark for posting ALL of these Music War clips. I saw this when I was a teenager on late nite TV, and it blew my mind. The quality and variety of the performances is simply beautiful. Thanks.

Everytime I see footage of XTC performing, it's hard to believe that Andy had such a fear of performing. I sure would like to get ahold of the pills he had to take in order to take the stage.

Valium? Pretty easy to get hold of. Or something similar like Xanax or Klonopin. Commonly prescribed for anxiety.

Can't believe Andy suffers from stage fright. I remember he cancelled dates on the "Drums and Wires" tour because of anxiety.

That seems like it was in Late 1979 - Early 1980. It was probably December, though - I saw a photo of him just sitting on the side of the stage from that month. That's the first I heard of him canceling dates, though. See, his wife tossed his Valium in November 1979, and he was dependent on it in HANDFULLS. When the dates were canceled, he was probably going through withdrawals. I don't mean minor ones, though; he said he was having muscle spasms, and he'd forget how to play guitar. He even had at least one bout of amnesia in early February 1980, wondering "Who are those people in that bus there, and who am I?" I judged the date by the location he described, and the weather on that day being cold and wintry.

A ndy should stop complaining about his lack of money get the band back together and make a fortune from live work, XTC fans would glady pay top dollar to see them play live.

This had to be made before Andy P.got stage fright, you say how is that so?...well he is on stage o.k. bye! He had a breakdown and would not perform live...shame because they were a great band,but they still put out some good albums .
@Vpmatt10 жыл бұрын
He used valium to deal with it. The live performing ended when his wife threw away his supply in 1982.
@101Volts10 жыл бұрын
They also didn't get paid any money for five years of touring and literally never got a break from touring and recording music at the time. Or that's what I've heard.
@101Volts10 жыл бұрын
Andy tweeted that when he was taken off valium he had memory loss and his muscles wouldn't work for playing guitar.
