I think the reason the vdi jumps so much is 1 the wide range for metal. 2 each block is by 4 plus the mineralization in the ground with other targets that might also have something to do with it. It says Park 1 is optimised for modern coins and larger jewellery. Therefore this is the ideal profile to start with to learn X‑TERRA PRO before experimenting with the other Modes and more specialist settings. Park 1 uses 10kHz as a default, to achieve the best mix of high and low frequency targets. Hence Park 1 is most suited for general detecting and coin hunting. Difficult Park Areas - Aluminium Foil Modern parks typically contain a lot of aluminium shards from discarded trash (e.g. drink cans, pull tabs, ring pulls, etc.) Because aluminium is a non-ferrous very low conductive target, its Target ID falls within the same range as fine jewellery. To dig less aluminium foil while still finding fine jewellery, use Park 1 with Discrimination Segment 6 rejected (i.e. Target IDs 1 to 4), or higher if the unwanted aluminium is larger in size.

From what I have read and watched the xtp is producing excellent tones so I might have to place more reliance on my ears than my eyes. Would like to but in a park a shovel is not a good thing to use. Plus the ground was dry. I normally do not dig in dry ground; But I wanted to try and see if lowering the sensitivity would help settle down the VDI jumpiness. As Someone Commented it helps. I still feel it does not .. Thanks For watching.

@@ohdannyboyjustadigginI think it did fine with the jumpy VDI but it was ALOT closer to the real numbers that were giving from the X-Terra Pro and yes it was jumpy VDI but it wasn't even jumping that high like it was on the full sensitivity like before and when you first started you had the ground balance at 14 and somehow it is now At 0 later in the video. But finding the nickel at a lower sensitivity and it's a solid number and when you got some junk Targets you can see that it's a lot jumpy VDI and you can see that the highest setting is really not necessary and that's how you learn from your detector and the other guys video His ground isn't Super Dry like yours is and maybe Why he can get away with the 8 -10 sensitivity and I will find his KZbin Channel again and put his name on here but I think it is Trent something but he's in Canada.....

@@carolrice2063 I got his channel and watched his videos. Canada coins ring up different then US coins. I do not think that lowering the sensitivity really helped out much other then losing depth. I have used many deferent detectors. And always had my sensitivity just under full by a couple levels. Been Coin Shooting for 10 1/2yrs. I will not give up using the Xterra Pro and I will take advice from people to help me understand this detector. As from what I thought it is a Beginners/Novice Detector.

Not sure Why KZbin is doing that in comments. Buddy I gave up trying to figure out this detector. I am going with the 700 again. Oh wait too many buttons and summer time ground will be dry as hell. I will Just say this .. Maybe I just got one of those malfunctioning detectors.

@@ohdannyboyjustadiggin but also you will know if the 700 is doing the same thing as the X-Terra Pro then it's the lack of moisture in the ground and not the detector and yes ALOT More button's to push , but you Do have to noise cancel and ground balance and it's not a just a grab it and let's just go with it and see what happens type of detector and it really doesn't take that long to do the ground B and noise cancel and By doing that it's giving your detector information about the Area you're going to be detecting At and will actually help you decide what is trash targets and the great targets but If you know that it's a JUNK target then don't try to even go after it but just go with the sweet Tone's and yes you will get fooled by some targets and I have seen some guys that have put a sock Or a Crown Royal bag on the detector screen and just Hunt By the Tone's and that's almost like it was just starting out Detecting 30 years ago Or More and No ideas of what was in the ground but you knew it was a good tone and you better Dig it and the 700 is going to be more complicated than the X-Terra Pro is and yes more Buttons to push and also more Targets that will be found and once you get to know what the buttons are for and after using it and also write it down to remember what you were at cause on one of the Video's that you made you Was At 14 ground balance and later on you thought and said that you thought you were at 0 ground balance when you start to detect but you did start At 14 and some how got to zero and I'm not trying to Harp on you but you have to be careful and consistent with the details of the Detectors for any little bit of change of the settings there's always something else that is missing and I don't have a higher level of detector like you have and I hope to get the 900 and that's going to be a long time before that is going to happen but the X-Terra Pro will be fine for now but every action Or button that is pushed there is a totally opposite reaction and Any change that you make will cause something else to change and that's the higher end detector and you can really fine tune them and once you get that done with and Now it can almost be a just a turn on and go Detector's like the bounty hunter tracker 4 but you will still need to noise and ground balance it and setup your profile and save it and the next time you go detect with the 700 you just go to the stored profile and noise cancel and ground balance and but whichever is first and go detect and it will get easier for you The more you use it and understand the instructions And you shouldn't have ate the pages 🤣 but If the 700 is doing the same exact thing for the jumpy VDI then it is the lack of moisture and not the X-Terra Pro and faulty like you have stated and try it out to see before the rain comes and Yet wait until after the rain comes to see if it's the problem but I still say that it's the lack of moisture that is the problem with the X-Terra Pro and Any Higher level of Detectors and hopefully soon I can get the X-Terra Pro and see for my self and and I can plant Targets in the garden after I get it tilled and then Mark it and don't forget that you like to push the Buttons and now you must really remember what you did and not just go with it and hope for the BEST......

16:00 and I know that you sold it but this is where you bumped the sensitivity Up to 20 and Jumpy VDI is really busy with the X-Terra Pro AND I noticed that it went down to a minus-5 and back up to the 60's and I still think it has to do with the Moisture that is Not in the ground and the reaction time on the bounce back to the detector and No moisture which means an almost instantly feedback from the ground to and back to the detector and gives you the JUMPY VDI PROBLEM'S with the X-Terra Pro and it's going to be the same thing with the 600 and 700 equinox and the Vanquish 540 and having no moisture in the ground and when the dryer season is going on well At least I have Is to lower the sensitivity down and Or just have to wait till the rain is there and moisture Is back to a normal percentage and it Use to be a nightly thing to get a rain shower every night and when you didn't hit the target at 10 on the sensitivity and hit it At 15 and I wonder if the target VDI would of been if you had of went to the full sensitivity and would of told us a little bit more about the jumpy VDI Problem's and If you could possibly bury a couple of target's and keep one of the targets Wet and the other just dry and it will help you with the other Detectors that you still have to detect with and see if the jumpy VDI stop's with the ground moisture and if it does then we all will know that it's a problem with the X-Terra Pro and the lack of moisture will cause it to be the jumpy VDI but I know that you sold it but it will still work for the other Detectors that you have to Play with..... 17:49 and what was the sensitivity At this time stamp and the target is on the top of the ground but it looks like it was on 20 still but what would it be At 10 on the sensitivity and No MORE jumpy VDI but you didn't test it out like you did for the buried target but I will still get a Minelab X-TERRA Pro no matter what......

@@ohdannyboyjustadiggin and I don't have the video to prove it but I know that's the problem with the X-Terra Pro and by just watching your struggles and videos and not just the X-Terra but the 600-700 Equinox And it's going great when you got started with those Detectors and then the ground was getting Dry and the VDI numbers are everywhere but it jumping a number Or two is a normal response and the sensitivity is at 15 but when you had the sensitivity Up to 20 and the X-Terra Pro Was going crazy with the VDI and going to -19 to 50's and 60's and 80's and like I have said before the bounce back to the detector is almost instantly happening and the X-Terra Pro doesn't understand why it's not taking longer for the response back from the ground back to the detector and so The jumpy VDI and If you can try to get some targets in the ground and only water one and just leave the other alone cause the 700 is almost doing the same thing as the X-Terra Pro is but I can't get the X-Terra Pro Yet and it will be awhile before I can but that Experiment will give you an idea and If you have a gallon can and put that on top of the target and Both side's are open of the can and just set it there and fill 💦 it up and everyday and One will be a great source of Tone's and the other one is the wacky VDI and you don't have to get Tap Water but If you have a good source of free water to try it out and then no cost to you At all And I'm not able to go out to detect with the Simplex and it's Mowing Day and gardening time almost everyday and I would rather be outside 👍....
