According to Nomura, Xehanort's backstory was not supposed to release until the Union χ team decided to make a project about it. That means that was the only opportunity to see to make this project come true. And yeah that's a shame they make it as a mobile game, but I guess they have no other choices. Personally I'm excited to see the full story in september.

@@sharpshooterxigbar5713 really? I started KHUX 4 days ago and just finished mission 978 or whatever is current end of Global (waiting for the last missions now). I've learned a LOT since the first 2 days was just me playing and figuring out stuff on my own until hitting the brick wall of Mission 910, at which point I went online, found the Reddit forum, learned about Supernovas, and then wrote up my own guide which I then referenced to build a deck, clear to 970, then alter the deck to clear the rest. I actually like the strategy and stuff that goes into the deck building, which medals to promote, their synergies with each other, and so on. So, now that I'm caught up with the story and Lux level 350, I figured I'd poke my nose into Dark Road. JUST started it but...uh...swipe up on 3 cards to attack? Do this rapidly so the enemy doesn't kill you? Try to match 3 colors? ...while I'm sure it gets more complex, I already know I like KHUX's more...

@@SubduedRadical Well swiping up badges isn’t too different from swiping up cards, isn’t it? UX is too complex, has too many things you need to consider and is more about leveling up everything you have. That’s nice and all but with the gacha elements it makes it even more annoying. With Dark road, the tower of trials is a good example of how the gameplay is at its peak. You need to balance Attacking with healing, and you cannot revive yourself and you need to do it quick. There’s an element of strategy and quick thinking during battle, not just spamming supernovas and swiping up your badge and crossing your fingers that you don’t die. Again, that’s just my personal opinion on what i think of the two.

@@sharpshooterxigbar5713 Yes, it is different. REALLY different. I can set my phone down in KHUX and refill my water and nothing happens. The enemies keep beating on you in DR. I've only been playing KHUX for 4 days - there's no store anymore. That is, you can't buy gems, so they're a limited commodity. I like the complexity because it means I can employ STRATEGY, which I enjoy in a game. Dark Road is like...trying to be an action game, but not being an action game. It's like that KZbin video of "If Uno was an anime". "A WIIIILD draw FOUUUUR!!!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!" I like my action games where I can move around and am in full control of my character, and DR isn't it. It's more like playing speed chess if it was not chess but was that matching game where you flip cards over to try to find matches. XD I don't mean this to dig it if you love it...but it's not for me. For me, KHUX is a far better system. I feel like if they had made KHUX more of a game and less a gotcha microtransaction cash grab, it would have been really popular.

Personally I feel it would've been awesome to have actual story based game about Xehanort's dawnfall. I mean not mobile game, but big game... Well maybe not on the level of numbered titles but at least on the level of CoM/BBS/DDD.

I’m hoping Dark Road isn’t rushed. I’m not a fan of the mobile games but I am a big fan of the stories, so if the story is rushed it could greatly impact the rest of the series. I’d rather they left it unfinished and came back to it in another form such as an animated series or a new game

They still haven't explained why are there Emblem Heartless during this time. Xehanort is the one who made them, is what we learned in KH1.

They already did though. Eraqus mentions that they were there because they were illusions from the future created by the book of prophecies.

@@vmkblaster1 they never said that. All they said was that the book of prophecies only works because the Master of Masters wrote its contents from what Luxu saw in the future. We do know that the book or prophecies disappeared after the keyblade war however, so the data worlds were created (along with data copies of the heartless the book created) to serve as a backup. As it was apparently foreseen that the book would disappear at one point. But there’s no telling that heartless could still be running around or not even after the book is gone during the events of Dark Road. At least that’s my take

That isn’t true. It’s been explained multiple times in the cutscenes in both Union cross and dark road that the emblem heartless we see in those time periods are future aberrations conjured from the book of prophecies, the reason this is possible is because the book saw the future through the master’s gazing eye in the no name Keyblade. So even if they technically didn’t exist until Apprentice Xehanort created them; at that moment in time when they were created many of them were always meant to go to those time periods and appear as aberrations from the book of prophecies; since in that time period they are more so future illusions; rather than actually existing naturally in that time period. This is able to work because time itself is immovable; even though dark beings themselves like these emblem heartless can move through time.

It's been half a year and the only updates they've made to Dark Road are rehashing the Tower of Trials over and over. It seemed interesting the first time, but you quickly get tired of it when they throw it up again without an actual story chapter in between.

I hope one day down the road the whole Union Cross story and Dark Road story are animated the way KH3 was. Just as a story for fans who don't play the mobile games. Sort of like what they did with Back Cover, but with the rest of the story that has unfolded.

It is kinda strange how they hyped it up like it was going to go on for years, and then just decided to end it later this year, where it will have barely lasted for over a year. Though tbh, I am glad that Dark Road won't be taking time out of the development for the next post-KH3 KH games and that the rest of the story will be kinda straight forward in comparison to Union X's slow paced story (although I love Union X's story and honestly think it's one of the best KH stories).

Dark road is only made by 2 people. The story itself was the removed part of kh 3, nothing will be lost by it going on for years.

I still don't really understand Xehanort's timeline, I was thinking about it last night. When did the chess match of KH3 take place? At what point did the older seeming Xehanort end up in Destiny Islands? At what point did Young Xehanort in his youth get time traveled to the future hijinks? How old even is Xehanort during the events of Dark Road? With the chibi art style it's hard to tell. Things are a bit all over the place.

Uhh that should be obvious considering how old Xehanort is in DR lol. It obviously took place around 70 years or so before the events of BBS. If you look closely at his KH3 model too you can see he’s a few years younger than the Tine traveling iteration of him.

I'm convinced it was sometime between the graveyard scene in DR and his second meeting with MoM in Re:Mind. They obviously showed us a young-adult-looking YX on destiny islands in 3D, but i'm just taking that to be a retcon because in DR he has the same hair as he does in the chess game with Eraqus, wherein he looks and sounds a lot younger than when he time travels. Also his hair is slicked back in the graveyard scene + it's four years after the main story of DR so I'm guessing they're changing it so that Xehanort never time traveled before leaving destiny islands

I just realised u mentioned in a video if they will keep the disney charecters i mean it would be nice but wouldnt make sence seeing how in kingdom hearts u learn that xhanort had to find out about these other worlds disney worlds are other worlds so if they add other worlds it would make no sence but not gonna argue the fact that near the end of the saga they wont add new disney worlds for the story of xhanort finding out about these other worlds for them to go from kingdom hearts you learn that hos whole life was in serch of other worlds for xhanort to end up on another world would make no sence unless you go the dark road route which then doesnt make sence to what they tell you about ansem the wise and xhanort i cant remember exactly what was said but for dark road to be the beggining of the next saga makes no sence i think it was mentioned in kh2

This is the clearest sign to me that they're shutting down the UX app much earlier than they'd originally intended, and it emboldens my theory that it's because the bad reactions to it have finally caught up with them. Granted, I won't cry too much over it, because as a game, Dark Road is easily the worst installment in the franchise, bar none. I don't even consider it a full game in its own right. It really does operate just as a vestigial limb of UX. I just hope the story doesn't end up suffering for it, because Dark Road's story (what little we've seen of it) is already better than the majority of Union X. I'd hate to see it rushed or cut off prematurely because UX is ending. I can't imagine they actually intended for DR to be this short of a story from the beginning.

There’s nothing that suggests the story will be short. They just confirmed they will release the entirety of Dark Road later. That could mean literally anything. Like assuming they had 10 more chapters planned, we could have a total of 10 more chapters to play through. It’s hard to tell right now of course tho

I would hope there's at least a LITTLE gameplay left to do. Otherwise, the last year of endless hours of grinding Xehanort on autopilot will have been for absolutely nothing, and I'm gonna be mega-pissed if that's the case (also, it means that Reaper Heartless from the last update is technically the final boss of Xehanort's story, which would be ultra-stupid).

@@Kira1Lawliet I mean, I’m pretty sure we still got plenty of Disney worlds to travel to. I seriously doubt we’d just explore Wonderland and Argrabah and that’s it. Besides, considering Union Cross revealed that there are a total of 6 Shadows, that leads me to believe Xehanort and his friends could deal with the remaining shadows in the rest of the Disney worlds (meaning we probably got around 5 Disney worlds left). Considering they said they are following the darkness to see if they can act as a lead to find the missing upperclassmen.

Baldr is Norse god, actually not a Greek god. Urd, Vor, Bragi, Baldr, and Hermod (and Skuld) are all figures from Norse mythology.

@@TheAsexualHermit yeah the god of light, baldr's death is the first event that leads into ragnarok. he dies for pretty absurd reasons but in general, it's loki's fault. his brother accidentally shot him with mistletoe (his weakness) without knowing what it was. im curious to see how norse mythology is gonna tie into the series since dark roads is after khux, yet we have setup for the Norns (norse fates), Skuld (KHUX), Urd(DR), and Verdandi (not shown yet). also Ven declaring himself pure light and Baldr referencing the god of light?? Strelitzia having a white coat?? no idea what's building up but Odin sus as hell, and now that we know there are ancient darknesses with names, i wouldn't be surprised if one of them was named Loki and stirring up trouble in Dark Roads.
