Thank you for your service. I appreciate your kind words. In my day the military was looked down upon. Vietnam was a terrible time in our country.

You are really wetting my appetite for a more power laser from my Ortor 7.5 watt laser. And I have all kinds of tools to cut 2x4’s and a laser is not one them. I appreciate the video! 😁🛫
@PawPawsWorkShop Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. Yes, a diode laser should not be cutting a 2x4. I’ve seen fires started and lasers damaged trying to do this. Does not make any sense. Thank you for watching

I also have the 40 watt, and I did not get it to be a cutting machine either...someone else can get their jollies by cutting 2x4 lumber if necessary.

At 4:29 you said you would show how you changed the passes and text settings...never did find that!! How am I missing it?

Soooo… I bought a 40w straight out the gate. Whaaaaat? It was on sale! 😂 I’m so frustrated because I still haven’t been able to make anything that looks good. This laser is POWERFUL
@PawPawsWorkShop Жыл бұрын
Do you have Lightburn software? It’s only $60 and it will do anything you need. Also do the grid patterns to get you power and speed dialed in Also, congratulations, it a great adventure

This looks like an awesome laser.

Thanks for the grid suggestion. I didn't know it was built into lightburn. As to the laser life, I'm not sure what the fear of using your stuff is. 8-9,000 hours is a LOT! If you ran the last flat out at 8hrs/day, 7 days a week, and 52 weeks/yr, that's 2,912hrs. That means you could run that thing for about 3 years straight before it would die! Man, that is a really, really long time! I'm guessing even the majority of people using these to make money maybe run them for 1/3 of that amount, so it would likely last over 10 years. You will likely be on to bigger, more powerful, and higher quality lasers by then. Not that I want to subvert what you're putting out there, but the math kind of says it all.

I’d love to see you test vinyl, leather, and acrylic with the 40W
@PawPawsWorkShop Жыл бұрын
There is a reason that I do not. Vinyl potentially could produce poisonous gas, leather smells really really bad and everyone does acrylic.

Hi I’m a new user of yours and I love your channel! I was working on setting up my own shop and my father bought me several more expensive tools before he past, and now all my tools where stolen. I’m a single mother of two and disabled with 12 major surgeries on my spine, more to come, excruciating pain everyday and have to go to a Pain Doctor every month, and then I have to do excruciating procedures all the time such as live nerve burns. I’m so depressed I am so far away to set up my own wood workshop, because I have always been creative and can’t wait to start my journey making wood items for my home and to sell. I was a designer, programmer, web design and more with my Masters Degree that I got while in excruciating pain. Do you have any advice that I can use to help get my wood workshop started sooner? Thank you so much for your service, and veterans like yourself deserve more appreciation from our country!

Thank you for sharing your story. To set up you workshop just start small and slowly add as you process into different project. Enjoy the adventure. The journey is far more important than anything else

Do you perhaps know what chemical could be used to remove the printed patterns and text on the backside of the floor underlayment ply.?
@PawPawsWorkShop Жыл бұрын
It all depends on the base of the ink used. Sometimes alcohol is all that is needed. Mineral spirits then lacquer thinner and last test would be acetone

I'm getting really bad burning around whatever I'm trying to do. I don't think my air assist is working correctly. You mentioned your air assist isn't turning on unless your laser is doing something, but how is that possible. How would the machine dictate when the air assist turns on if it's just plugged into a regular power supply. How would it control it ??? Please help 🤣 because I can't even get my test grids to look like anything without scorch marks everywhere
@PawPawsWorkShop Жыл бұрын
The air assist is controlled by the software. If you have a separate power source then that will override the software in that you will just have to turn it off and on. Have you cleaned the laser lens. If it gets dirty you will not get the correct focus and can cause the burning. Overpower is another cause with too much power.
@teresa6775 Жыл бұрын
@@PawPawsWorkShop Oh I think I have been way over powering lol. I 'turned' the settings down pretty far and that fixed my issues. Thanks so much !! And yes, my air assist is plugged into a different source.

okay, I did this as my first test and WOW should I have edited the text and cut settings before running the test.... cut through my ply through my 1/2" plywood spoil and into the MDF shelf underneath.... while doing the text.... wow.... those settings were WAY off..

I have the D1 but upgraded to the 20 watt... will the 40 watt work on mine????
@jimnugent1143 Жыл бұрын
Nope. The XTool folks decided the original purchasers of the D1 couldn't upgrade to the 40w. The 40w only fits the D1 Pro.
@greghumphreys1619 Жыл бұрын
@@jimnugent1143 I just wanted to let you know that I was looking around the xTool webiste, and according to xTool, you can fit the 40 watt upgrade to the D1 frame. You would not be able to use the limit switches that come with the upgrade, and you would no longer be able to use any of the D1 lasers after the upgrade (unless you switched everything back). I found this information on the Store portion of their site after clicking on the "xTool 40W Laser Module for D1 Pro" and scrolling down to the FAQ section.
