Chris, I'm glad we connected. I'm sure other knife makers will value your video & test results. The details you put into the video should answer any questions they have. I want to thank you again for doing this, I appreciated the time you put into this. Keep up the good work. Edit; After going through the video a 2nd time I want to address something you brought up. RUST. In a high carbon steel any blade will gain a patina over time. If the patina isn't controlled rust will follow. One thing I tell all my customers is to care for your blade. Hand wash only and dry it. A light coat of oil doesn't hurt either, this goes for Stainless as well as high carbon. Stainless is the same as high carbon, it could also get a patina but this will not happen as fast as with a high carbon. There are so many different types of stainless and each have their own properties. Some have a very high resistance to rust but will not hold a good edge. These are used in the food and medical fields. The stainless used for knives will hold and edge but the resistance to rust isn't as high. Bottom line is stainless is rust resistance not rust proof. I hope this help answer your and other viewers questions or concerns.

Thanks Mike, just so others can see the response here too, if the engraving from the IR laser has a bit of depth to it (not much but from the video you can see material was removed) do you think the engraved area would rust faster than the surrounding area?

@@EmbraceMaking Chris , I currently use electro mechanical etching for my blades. I have not had an issue or heard of an issue from any of my customers with the etched area vs non etched area. I have well over 150 knives all over the country. Even a few on a Tuna Boat if any were to have issued I would think in the salt water and air they would be the first.

Awesome video! Would love to see a video doing 6x12 and 4x7 license plates and a JIG for them both …. So you can slide the larger license plate left to right for engrave! Thanks for always sharing such great info!

How do you get the F1 Ultra to work with the Hood up?
@gregparker57324 ай бұрын
The gradual heat build up of the test object when running a grid throws off the results compared to running any one speed and power setting by itself on a room temperature object. This is especially true when trying to get consistent colors on SS.

Nice Video, I like the way you explain what your doing but, I would like to see you show where these functions are at in the software, they seem to be hidden under right clicks, not easily located like in Lightburn. also How do you use lightburn on the f1 ultra? thanks .
@EmbraceMaking4 ай бұрын
Thanks Tony! This video I definitely sped through some of those details as I covered a lot of it in the previous embossing and engraving video, so I didn't want to drag this video on longer than it needed to be. As for Lightburn I don't have as much experience since Creative Space has mostly covered everything I need to do. What is it in Lightburn that you're looking to do that isn't available in XCS?
@gregparker57324 ай бұрын
@@EmbraceMaking The list of things LB can do quickly and easily that XCS can't is long. Somethings XCS can't do at all.

Blue light laser creating photo engravings on wood would be cool to see.. from Bambu to literally wood that’s cut from a tree, like oak or maple.. using the Ultra..
@EmbraceMaking4 ай бұрын
Sounds good! I assume when you say photo engravings you would be looking for something like "photo realistic" perhaps like people and pets?
