I know someone like this. Runs to the hospital for a temperature of 99 degrees then comes back 4 days in a row insisting it isnt a cold and they must be dying. What else could explain a slightly raised temperature and runny nose? Also insists they will go into convulsions if they go above 100.

Once I took an ambulance because I had been vomiting for several days and couldn’t get it under control despite medicines, I had a cough for a month prior to the vomiting and continued declining, I couldn’t rehydrate fast enough. The ambulance guy drove me to the hospital, told them I had GERD and told me to sit in the waiting room. I was slumped over the chair declining for about 10 mins and the nurse ran over to me and said come in straight away and we’ll check your vitals. My heart rate and blood pressure were serious and the machine was dinging like crazy. She took me straight to the room and it was determined I had pneumonia, bronchitis and sepsis and even with treatment the test showing sepsis kept getting higher to the point of severe, I was transferred to a different hospital. The ambulance guy had no business diagnosing me, he didn’t check my vitals or sit with me in the back at any point and I would be dead if it were up to him.

Yep...a typical ER visit for many females on Medicaid. Oh yea lady, don't forget to tell the nurse that you're in pain. lol.

Calling 911 isn't going to get you seen faster in the ER. You get there, and you wait to be assessed just like everyone else. Unless you are coding, severely injured, or having symptoms of an actual emergent situation, such as chest pain, you aren't getting seen before everyone else. There were plenty of times we sent ambulance patients to the regular waiting room who had nothing really wrong with them, they mistakenly thought that an ambulance would get them bumped up and treated with urgency.

I got aches & pains to some degree every day I don't run to the doctor every week for pain meds, I also have asthma I stayed home for an attack that made me black out because I was to scared to go back. I'm still hesitant to go back to the ER because the night b4 the attack I was the ER & because it was a slow & silent attack they told me I was fine called me a hypochondriac & sent me home. That's when my fear & distrust of doctors & the ER STARTED.

do people actually take an ambulance from one ER to another?
@peacecful6 жыл бұрын
Jaclyn Jenkins Yes! We discharge them to the waiting room and they call from there. Usually because we didn’t give the requested narcotics as they were not clinically indicated.
