Thanks for the Great video Taryl. I was going to buy an OEM clutch when my Beautiful wife! found the Xtreme clutch for way less than OEM. It has been working Great on my Dixon Zero turn 60" Commercial 8025 mower. I went to your video and learned to torque the clutch bolt to 55 lbs and to Burnish in the clutch. I've replaced several parts on my Dixon as it's 18 years old now, but I always look to your video's to make sure I'm doing things properly. I have a lot of grass to mow and leafs to pick up in the Fall! With your help I have been able to keep my Dixon mower running at it's best. Thanks Again Taryl!

Taryl. I replaced the OEM Warner clutch on my John Deere 165 Hydro in which the OEM clutch would not disengage due to a bearing failure. After viewing this video, I purchased the correct Xtreme clutch and followed all of the instructions. The Xtreme Clutch was very impressive both in its quality and appearance over the OEM clutch. If the clutch fails on my 682 Cub Cadet, I will go Xtreme. Best Regards To All Of The Grass Rats From Central KY.

I learned more from this short video then any video on a clutch replacement so far. Thanks for all the heads up. A lot of what I learned was never mentioned in other tutorial videos.
@geoffgeoff33338 жыл бұрын
The issue XtremeClutch is pointing out is not an electrical problem related to "shorting out" the new clutch, Darrel - it's bc if the voltage is below 13.3V, the clutch will not seat tge flywheel tightly and it will spin, generate heat and burnout. I know this bc my Wheelhorse stator developed a fault and produced less that 13V, so while the tractor would start, the electromagnetic clutch wouldn't sufficiently engage - which caused my old PTO clutch to fail. So: "there's your dinner!"

I just installed one on my John Deere STX, works great, customer support is fantastic as well, the previous owner installed the wrong PTO they helped track down the right one (John Deere changed the design over the years), anyway the previous owner didn't put PTO in the anti-rotation spot and time I fired it up (I bought it not running), spit the clutch across the garage floor, snapped the bolt off inside the crank. Lesson learned don't trust the previous owner on a used lawn mower. Extreme was cheaper then the John Deere warner part and John Deere dealer was trying to sell me the wrong one again, Extreme got me the right part! I highly recommend them.

How did you get the broken off bolt out of the crankshaft?
@Unclejake4 жыл бұрын
Dbunch57 installed a used “new” crankshaft, I tried every trick in the book, it had to be bottomed out on the crank, and torqued in tight....after a few days of messing with it, I found a used one on eBay, and decided I’d install new rings and all...runs great now.

just cooked the pto clutch on my cub, blow jobbing the snow. I didn't look at it yet, but I know it cooked cuz it let the smoke out and the pto stopped working. it was original. all the epoxy cracked and fell apart inside. I had cleaned it up and re-epoxied it. worked for a year but it's full on dead now. I suspect the battery isn't charging, which usually isn't any problem at all, cuz if I'm only ever using the battery to start the engine, it actually lasts half the season before I have to charge it again. but, the clutch is a fairly good draw on the battery, which can drain it down much faster. what I think happened, the battery got weak, still plenty to start the engine but not enough to clamp the clutch down tight, so that was probably slipping and causing extra heat. burned the enamel off the coils inside and shorted. good to know in the future, a weak battery can cook the clutch.

FYI the D-drive on the end where the bolt goes in has flat edges, use a wrench to hold it while torquing.

Clutch on my gravely has been engaging very harsh. No transition period from at rest to start. I have replaced all bearings everywhere on the deck. Deck itself spins beautifully. Hey Taryl, I just put an xtreme clutch in my scrub cadet GT2186 and most everything went smoooooth. The mufkin studs didn't break and the clutch came off with a little coaxing. My problem is the plug on the new clutch doesn't match the plug on the tractor. The plug on the tractor has a red and black wire but the clutch has two black wires, can I just make a couple of short jumper wires to connect them and how do I determine which is the red / hot wire on the clutch? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
