一個學佛之人，不在於你讀誦了多少的經典，也不在於你每天念了多少聲的佛號，更不在於你親近過多少大師級的人物；而在於你放下了多少的我慢和我執。與人相處的時候，不起煩惱，自己不起煩惱，令他人不起煩惱。我跟你講，自己不起煩惱，那需要智慧；令他人不起煩惱，那需要慈悲。這個才是佛法的慈悲和智慧。只有這樣，你才會真正讓人感受到佛法的慈悲和智慧，讓人感受到你學佛之後的改變。這個才最令人信服的，這個才最具有說服力的。我覺得這個也是佛法的『高、大、上』：智慧高，慈悲大，人上人。真正佛法的『高、大、上』就在這裡。
For a person who learns Buddhism, it doesn't matter how many sutras you have read, how many times you chant the Buddha's name every day, or how many master-level figures you have been close to; what matters is how much arrogance and ego you have let go of. When you are with people, there are no afflictions on both your and others' sides. Let me tell you that to have no afflictions yourself, you need wisdom; to let others have no afflictions, you need mercy and compassion. These are the mercy, compassion, and wisdom of Buddhism. Only in this way can you truly make people feel the mercy, compassion, and wisdom of Buddhism, and make people feel your changes after you learn Buddhism. This is the most convincing and the most persuasive. I think this is also the "highness, magnificence, and classiness" of Buddhism: high wisdom, magnificent mercy and compassion, and classy people.
