Today, we’re diving deep into the low-end frequencies with the Xvive T9 In-Ear Monitors. These monitors are not just another pair of earbuds; they’re a game-changer for bass players.
The Xvive T9s are designed and hand-finished in the USA, featuring dual balanced-armature drivers1. This design approach offers pro-level audio quality previously only available from custom in-ears1. But what does this mean for us bass players?
Well, the powerful, high-headroom bass/mid balanced armature, and custom-tuned and custom-ported micro tweeter provide an even sound with an extended bass response1. The bass is very prominent, extremely tight, and slams unexpectedly hard2. The sub-bass maintains extension and rumble even down to around 10hz2. Very impressive, especially for a balanced armature!
The Xvive T9s are not just about the bass. They offer a clear and detailed high end1, ensuring that your bass lines cut through the mix without losing any of the richness and depth. The midrange is decent, soft, and non-fatiguing, making these monitors perfect for long practice sessions or gigs.

Looking forward to future videos regarding the wireless setup with your pedal board. I personally use a KZ ZS10 Pro set for in ears, used them live 3 times now and they work great! Amazing for the price they go for.

Yeah, wireless has defintely become the goto for my rig these days, even in recording. I hope it offers you some new ideas to explore. Glad you found something that works for you on the in ears. It's rough out there on a bassist!

Hey Sensei! Great video and topic. I'm loving it. I had a bad experience and got rid of my first IEM. The dang ever present hiss was a deal breaker for me. The XVive units don't have that and I enjoy IEMs now. I spent the money for a moulded and use them all the time. The XVive buds are a great option. Thanks for making these vids that showcase real options!

Glad to hear you found a good option, Russ. I hated them for ages and refused to use them. I'm glad that the technology for bass clarity has improved and so has the price. I'm defintely getting use out fot hem in the studio as well. Goos to see ya.

Great review! As someone who suffers from tinnitus, (Kids... ALWAYS wear EarPro when exposed to loud music or pay for it later in life!), I am always looking for anything that will give me some of that sonic enjoyment I remember. I'm going to give these a try. I have a bunch of the cheapo sets and a Westone 3 driver set but none of them have any decent bass response. I already use the U4 system. Thanks again, love your vids!

Hey Rodney, hope you’re doing well. First off, thanks for this double Xvive review. Your timing is flawless since I got an eye on it and both your videos came up. Cheers! I bought and used the U4+T9 for the 1st time on stage for a gig I played on November 11th in Paris, France and the feeling was awesome. Next up is being able to explain the sound engineer what kind of mix I want in my ears 😅 If you have tips to share about that, I buy it! Quality-wise, it’s genuinely satisfying. I also used it during a full rehearsal with my band -> boy it is super useful to be able to hear clearly what I’m playing and focus on the details and intentions. Thanks again and enjoy!

That's awesome. Great to hear it's worked for you out in the wild. Paris? What a great gig! Really happy to hear you got to do that! As far as a mix, I usually do my own mix from a mixer on stage. If you can, that's best as you can control it. If someone else is doing it, I would go with drums, especially snare being the most important as it's how i'll hear the pace of the kit and will cut through everything. Then rhythm guitars, and finally vocals in that order of importance. Biggest for me is to have the kick drum, but not huge in the mix as it will just drown out most of my low and and get confusing. Good luck!

Thanks for the review. I cant crash through a bunch of gear to find what works. I want these for practice and tracking. So clear and accurate is the goal.

That stingray in the back looks sick! Any reccomendations on musicman humbucker style pickups that are passive and sound modern? Been using Seymour Duncan SSMB and I'm looking for an upgrade.

Thanks - it's actually not a Stingray. It's a Klos Apollo. I can't be of too much help because i never really played much MM. I have heard the sandberg m4 a couple times and liked the sound, so maybe that's one to look into.

I recently started experimenting with wired system on my pedalboard: the xlr out from my sansamp into a 2 channel monitor mixed with a line from the stage monitor to a long headphone extension cable braided together with my bass patch cord (I figured since I'm not wireless with my bass, I didn't need to be wireless with the in ear monitors). Super cheap setup and works reasonably well at boosting myself up in the mix. I can still hear and feel the bass amp which provides the low end but the in ear monitor provides the crisp clankiness.

I've used several different pairs of IEMs, one expensive custom moulded set that the drives kept blowing for no reason and then Chinese made generics, for 2 to 3 gigs a week for the last 3 years. Interested to try these over my regular £65 generic 10 or 12 driver pair and hope for a better outcome

If I'm reiterating, I apologize. I looked that the drivers for this set. They have 2 (which is good). Drivers are the most important part of iem headphones. Rule of thumb, more drivers=more frequency separation.
@RodneyMcG
@RodneyMcG Жыл бұрын
In theory, yes but only if they are designed well. That's a long subject, but as with anything, less done well is better than more Done badly. It's like bass cabinets. I've heard a number of them that have a combination of mid driver, 10 inch speaker, 15 inch speaker, and a tweeter and sound absolutely horrific. I've heard 212 cabinets that blow multi driver cabinets out the door. Also, similar to Bass cabinets, the cross over frequencies are crucial. Not engineered well they can leave gaps or areas that are inappropriate for one driver over another and just create a sonic disaster. As always, evaluate with your ears and your wallet and let that be your guide!

I'm with you, Adam. I abandoned them for a long time. IT seemed like everything was guitar and vocals at ear shattering volume. I hope the review gives you some new things to try.
