I am the same age as Michael and he was my Idol. I watched this 30th Anniversary show on tv and 'taped' on a VHS tape....but I no Longer have a VCR player. The entire show is on YT, you should take the time to watch it. MJ's family performed those songs you mentioned and many of Michaels most trusted friends performed. Michael spent almost his entire career fighting off his haters who wanted to bring him down. They started some of the most ridiculous tabloid scandals and when that didn't work...they accused him of SA children. It was a hell of a court fight but ultimately Michael was found 'not guilty' on all charges. He was said to be the most gentle and kind man who had been abused throughout his childhood. My biggest regret is not having seen him in concert. Now, may he RIP.

What do you mean by “for the time period”? 2001 wasn’t THAT long ago. In fact, music and performance has seen a massive dip in quality since then. The crazy thing is that he wasn’t even in his prime at this point in 2001. He was 43 and this turned out to be his last proper concert before he died in 2009 at 50 years old. There’s still 30+ years of ABSOLUTE greatness that came before this that you need to check out.

For those of us who lived at the same time & witnessed his first performance w/Jackson 5, grew up with him, watched him go solo & global, capture every generation of people decade after decade & then be stolen from us right before his This Is It tour, his last? For us, Michael is sewn into the fabric of our hearts. He left many valuable messages in his songs that he wrote to humanity, important, life changing messages. Ignorance colors your perception & devalues the magnificent impact that Michael gifted us with. I hope that you will dive deeper into his massive catalog with a little more humbleness so that you can really appreciate him, learn what you are missing & enjoy his contribution to not only music & dance, but also, our hearts & minds. 💯🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

The phenomenon of his immense popularity and influence was only equaled by his eccentricity, and how much the American tabloids demonized him for it. As an older MJ fan whom was there from his heyday, back in the 80's, let me tell you something & be real! This performance here was from just a couple of days before 9/11 twin towers attack happened! (MJ should have actually been in one of the towers for a meeting that fateful day, but slept bad, so didn't go thank christ) Anyhow, that day he did this performance, he was in excruciating pain & high as fuck on prescription medication! He barely knew who he was at the time! Do bare in mind & have full empathy with the fact this man's knees were shot to pieces, from all the crashing to his knees dramatically on the stage in his youth! & also he was still suffering severely from his dramatic 3rd degree burns he suffered in the 80's because of the pepsi commercial accident So it's not like he was just some drug addict, he was a man who was suffering, so you need to understand that & have empathy for him! David Gest, who was his best friend since childhood, organised the whole 2 night concert to be performed on the 9th & 10th of september at madison square gardens to celebrate his (MJ's) 30 years in the music business. It was to have on one of those nights, dozens of very famous people performing MJ songs & paying tribute to him. Thousands of fans had spent thousands travelling from all over the world to see him perform! People flew to America from the u.k (where i'm from) Germany, france, italy, spain, australia, new zealand, africa, basically dozens of far away countries & at almost the last minute, it was noted MJ was out of it pretty much on the pain meds. But, as it had cost an absolute fortune to put on the 2 shows, and for all the big name celebs to be there & all those thousands of fans to fly thousands of miles, they felt they had to get him up there to perform anyway! (& he wasn't himself performing a whole concert anyway) So. All this to say to you, this is way more impressive in some ways, this particular performance, but also sad, heartbreaking & tragic! But in a way understandable, that they couldn't cancel virtually last minute! MJ really did give us his all, even to his own detriment! He even one time, years before this, was on a bridge thing high up in the air, it crashed to the ground & he broke his back & he still climbed back onto the stage, finished off his performance & then went off stage & collapsed & was rushed to hospital! he carried on as he didn't wanna let down his fans! This man was legendary & on a whole other level & I sincerely hope you try to learn a bit about him & avoid all the negative lies & gossip about him & learn the truth about the man, who was pure hearted, kind, sweet, funny & mega talented!

He is an absolute legend and ICON, you can definitely see from his work where a lot of artists from today got their inspiration from. You should definitely react to the classics, especially since you’ve never seen anything by Michael Jackson before. Michael wasn’t just about dancing, singing, or performing-he poured his passion into his music videos, or short films, as he called them. Some iconic short films to react to: • Thriller (full version, 4K) • Bad (full version) • Smooth Criminal (full version) • Speed Demon • Ghosts (full version, though it’s quite long) • Remember the Time • You Rock My World (full version) Songs worth reacting to: • She’s Out of My Life • They Don’t Care About Us • Blood on the Dance Floor • Dirty Diana • The Way You Make Me Feel • Scream • Stranger in Moscow • Childhood (watch both the video and the recording) Must-see performances: • Super Bowl halftime show • MTV VMAs 1995 • Grammy Awards 1988 • “Human Nature” live during the Bad Tour • HIStory tour Munich The entire HIStory Tour is phenomenal, but the Munich performance of “They Don’t Care About Us” and “Smooth Criminal” are my personal favorites.

And when I see Michael dance I feel he’s like “never let them see you work”. Dancer and singer Jeffrey Daniel was a member of the R&B group Shalamar and pioneered the dance move the backslide, which became known as the moonwalk after he taught it to Michael Jackson.

You say: “For the time period” ?? Music as a whole downgraded heavily since his time

You.... missed..... out. I got to see it from Off The Wall to Invincible and everything in between. A musical force matched by no other before or since.

He debutted the Moonwalk at the Grammys in early '80s. I watched it and had my mind blown.

I'm really enjoying you! It is so nice to see the young genz discovering the performers we grew up watching. There was no one like Michael Jackson. He was one of a kind and will always be unique.

Michael was our friend. He was the great uniter. He didn't care about color, or fame or fortune. He cared about kids, because he had been all over the world and the world loved him and he tried to make a difference. He wasn't afraid to put himself out there first. He changed the world. There was no black or white, just people. He always remained a kid at heart. He was the most famous person in the world and the most loved. We all miss him. You might watch "We are the World" everyone in that video is uber famous and he managed to gather them all together - for free - I think they were at the grammys or something, and asked them to make a video and record it to sell it to donate to Aid to Africa - for the kids.

ELVIS DID THE ON THE TOES MOVE IN VIDEO "JAILHOUSE ROCK". ELVIS, JAMES BROWN, AND JACKIE WILSON ARE WHO MJ SAID INFLUENCED HIM THE MOST.😎

Well my whole life I've always wanted to but never yet was able to meet somebody who has been living under a rock. But now I have. Seriously how could you have never heard Michael Jackson before?😲

There is no way he hasn't seen MJ. Unless he was born 5 days ago, almost every show this kids generation grew up on, at some point made a reference to MJ. Dance movies, music videos, etc. He was the most recognized man across the globe at one point.

This is crazy. It hasn't been that long since MJ was with us. How can someone older than 15 not have ever heard of him or know his songs?????

You've got some catching up to do! MJ started entertaining us when he was 9 years old, with his brothers J5, and was a genius, a master of everything that he did artistically! He was fricking amazing! He is the influence of everyone that came after him. I recommend starting with some J5, and never stopping until you've seen everything that you can. He was one of the first child stars and we watched him grow up on TV. He was considered a King everywhere he went. How could you not know him?!! It's like you had to be sleeping under a rock!! He is the GOAT!

I can’t believe there’s someone on earth that has never heard of Michael Jackson…he was and still is THE KING He didn’t invent the moonwalk but he looked the best doing it!

Most people are probably too young to notice the older woman briefly shown in a front row... That was Elizabeth Taylor, an movie star from 40s, 50s, 60s, etc. World famous in her time and once considered the most beautiful woman of her time. She was a friend of MJ. Probably a grandchild.

There are some performers in a black and white video from I think the early 1940s on video doing the moonwalk. It wasn’t something generally known at the time, not a video anyone would have seen before the time of KZbin. When MJ first did the moonwalk, it immediately went viral. I was age 9 or 10, and the next day at school everyone was trying to do it. He made it famous. Other dances he didn’t create but made famous was the robot and popping and locking. His dancing took inspiration from a lot of different sources, but his influence made them part of the culture.

That was Reggie Miller in the audience. Saw Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 when I lived in Houston, TX in the mid 80's, it was a great concert. Michael didn't create the moonwalk but not too many performers used it, he perfected it. Arthur Marshall created something similar to the moon walk in the early 1900's. Michael is from Gary, Indiana, about 3 hours from where I grew up in Coatesville, IN. Small towns!

Michael Jackson is the greatest performer that ever lived. I am glad that you were able to see him for the first time on this video, but this video is just a drop in the bucket to the talent of this man possessed. He will go down in history as the goat as the GOAT
