I saw this comment under the mv might help you understand what she was trying to show Lee hi explained the MV on Ph-1 Seoul food visual Radio: She said the girl in the beginning in black and white dress (her current self) was making a bad decisions( ending her life) so the angel version of herself goes back to the past to make memories with the same girl (her younger self) to comfort her. So in the end her currently self decides not to go with it. So all 3 girls are herself. She saved herself.

I've always had the impression that there was an element of her younger self as well as a suicide aspect. So, a mixture of both interpretations.

It actually is, she is making reference to mental health and she has lost important people to suicide too, plus she has been depressed herself and she spoke about that. It took her a while to be able to do music properly. So this is a song of reassurance for those struggling that it will be okay. In fact she is talking to her younger self, at the beginning of the video you hear sirens and she is about to jump, her older self through the video talks to her younger self making sure she knows it will be okay, so that inevitable ending that is expected due the beginning of the video actually never happen. She is basically talking to younger generations, telling them shit will get tough, but she wants to be that guardian angel and say "One day it will stop" as it stopped for her. She could have been the next, but she wasn't. She overcame and she wants to reassure everyone that they can overcome too.

lee hi is the queen of comfort, u can't change my mind. if u wanna get your feeling hurt by lee hi i suggest listening to scarecrow ;) it's one of her older songs and it was actually first written for park bom and she had already recorded the song and music video for it (if i'm not mistaken) but it was cut. park bom got to sing it in 2019 on the survival show "queendom" again and it was heartbreaking to say the least. so it's a song with a bit of history and the lyrics hit deep 💗 (btw i love your reactions sm 😭)

I've been casually following Lee Hi since before she signed with YG. She really impressed me on the show Kpop Star 3 I think it was. She did some great covers of popular English songs. She sings this live incredibly as well! She talks about this song with kids on a video somewhere... Maybe someone else can recall what that channel/video was.

4:20 (didn't mean to put 420 like that, I just want to add to what you're saying here, the movie Inside Out (Pixar) teaches kids (and adults) that optimism is great and all, but you cant keep things burried inside for the sake of others. You cant ignore the sadness and 'STAY POSITIVE' 'negativity is BAD'. You can't think that way, the only way to get to the happiness (Joy) and to truly appreciate that feeling once you've gotten there, it to go THROUGH the sadness. If you dont Express sadness and anger and such..not only will no one even know you're hurting, but you're either gonna Supress the hell out of your emotions until you blow up, or you'll go through whatever you are going through alone. It's okay to cry and be sad, Express it and tell friends or family anyone who can help. (Or write it down idk). Yes positivity is good, but without its contrast it wouldn't even exist. The more I see this MV the more Im sure its talking about depression and people who are struggling with everything and all. The way it starts and she's wearing black (meaning she's in that dark state of her life), the way her shoes are not even properly put (meaning even in the simplest tasks she's given up) the way she's referenced at the border of a tall building or even a bridge, and that slight "forward" movement (meaning she's ready to jump). The way it transitions into a feather (meaning she's now become an angel since she's already passed away). Here I have two theories, both starting with the angel (lee hi wearing white) actually came down before she actually jumped, and 1. went way back when she was a kid, trying to make the depression never hit and maintain her happines (tiny lee hi wearing white, meaning she was still ok), or 2. they're both still at the edge of the building and angel is just showing glimpes of how her life did have happy moments and she needs to look to them, either to hold on, or try to go back to that state. For the pool scene, case 1 tells me angel lee hi still couldnt change the past and the girl still got depression (she's just barely holding it while wholding her breath, and so angel comes to save her), and for case 2 angel is showing that not everything can be happines and there will be also sad moments, but she'll be there to give comfort. Anyway, this bring us to the end of the video where depressed lee hi (wearing black) starts spinning in the building, meaning the angel's job is actually helping, and she's getting that happiness again (since she's dancing). So, the shoes go back to the floor, she turns around not facing the void anymore, meaning she's not intending to jump anymore. Aaaaaaaand sorry for the lenghty comment.

I don’t know why but this song never cease to make me cry whenever I listen to it and I’m not even a sensible person 💀. Basically what she says is that she kept being hard to herself compared to everything felt depressed and having lower esteem or just being sad overall what she says here’s is that like gets better and that « you » should keep hope because everything is gonna turn out fine. Also FYI i don’t know if you know but she’s now not in YG anymore but in AOMG which is Jay Park’s label and so there’s no copyright and pause copyright needed. As for breathe I’ve heard the song was written by Jonghyun ( a member from shinee that passed away) and she was very close to him.
