@xxMADxMICKxx8 жыл бұрын
I still have the 9x, but I got a FrSky module for it and then eventually bought a FrSky Taranis transmitter. The main reason for the switched was to take advantage of the fail safe function available in the FrSky Receivers for when I'm flying FPV and go out of range. This was so the RTH (BGL-6G-AP) can be engaged. But also the Taranis /FrSky receivers have more options and range too. I have just bought another 9x module to put in the back of the Taranis so I can use the old receivers though. Cheers Michael
@owenkilleen8 жыл бұрын
I knew that the FrySky had these better options, so i am also looking to get a FrySky module. Is this the module you got? www.banggood.com/FrSky-2_4G-8CH-DJT-Transmitter-Module-With-D8R-II-Plus-Receiver-Combo-p-1008353.html?rmmds=search or www.banggood.com/FrSky-DJT-JR-2_4GHz-Transmitter-Telemetry-Module-p-954940.html?rmmds=search Also, really good to know the Taranis will use the old FlySky module as well! That was a question that i had recently formed. Oh, i got the 9X working, i opened it up again, and pushed a few of the connections tighter, and tightened the 'V' that connects power from the front and back boards, also soved the ground wire in a bit tighter at the battery connection, seems a bit weird with no sound now though, but at least no constant beeping, phew. What would you think of the new 'around one hundred euro', Taranis? www.banggood.com/FrSky-ACCST-Taranis-Q-X7-2_4GHz-16CH-Transmitter-White-Black-p-1112717.html?rmmds=search I'm thinking i've a few next options to get those failsafe's, RTH features, and that's 1. Buy a Smartieparts EX9R Board and with it, one of those FrySky modules, or,

At the time, I got mine from HobbyKing. That is the same module DJT, but I purchased mine with a non-telemetry receiver V8FR-II, which was a bit cheaper. Also, I figured that my 9X could not display the telemetry info anyway. hobbyking.com/en_us/frsky-djt-2-4ghz-combo-pack-for-jr-w-telemetry-module-v8fr-ii-rx.html Great to hear you didn't fry your transmitter. There is nothing worse. I really like the new Taranis Q, it has almost all of the features of the Taranis X9D, but is half the price. Same software, but seems to be a better set of buttons to navigate the menus. If I was in your position, I would not worry about the module for your FlySky, spend a little more and get the Taranis Q straight up. For me, it was only about AU$50 for the module when I got it, so it was a lot cheaper than the AU$350 Taranis. Cheers Michael

Any chance you might be able to help out with a tutorial to activate another of the switches as well as having the 3 position switch for the flaps , or better still activate 2 of the other 2 position switches in conjunction with the 3 position for the flaps ? , would be greatly appreciated

G'day Aussie, this radio certianly can assign a channel to a switch or potentiometer. I don't have the radio anymore, so I can't do a demo for you. I think as long as you use a channel not used in the three position switch setup then one switch should be straight forward. I recall my corsair had the gear on a switch and the flaps on the three position.

@@xxMADxMICKxx hI Michael , thanks for your reply , I have only had this radio for a couple of days , havent bound it to any models as yet , but I thought I'd have a look on youtube for some advice / tutorial before I start doing anything serious with it. I mainly purchased it for the Messerchmitt BF109 I bought from HobbyKing , for all the functions to operate I needed 7 channels , and the radio I have is FLYSKY I6 , only 6 channel. The model has a bomb drop , and of course wanted it to be functional , no point having it if it doesnt work hey. Anyhow , this Turnigy 9X is apparently an upgraded unit from the original , and I was bummed out when I couldnt find a switch assign function in the menu , like the FLYSKY radio has , setting that up was so easy . Then I came across your video........and was like ..wow ..ok , I'll follow your video and do what you show in it (when I get around to it , as one of the 'upgrades' seems to be the absence of a backlight for the LED screen , which HobbyKing have in stock and I have ordered one , boy , they sure know how to wring every cent they can out of a hobbyist , and installing it will no doubt void the warrantee) . So I hope I can work out exactly how to get things to operate the way I want and need , your video will be a great help for the flaps on the 3 position switch , and if you say the switches can be assigned to other functions , I'm supposing I'm going to need to use a mix with a potentiometer and one of the 2 position switches ?

@@aussieaeromodeler No need to add any mix for the bomb drop or gear. I think all you want is to add the gear to ch 5 on the AUX CH page (See 1:35) and the bomd on one of the other channels not used for the flaps 8 or 9. For the bomb drop you'd want a switch, but I can't recall the options that show up in the AUX CH page for the channels, scroll through and see if there is an option that matches with a switch on the top.

Would this work if I have connections to the reciever with retractable gears on channel 5, flaps are on channel 6, I have a dive break on channel 7 (aux1) and navigation lights on channel 8 (aux2) ? I have the FS-R9B receiver installed in a new T28 Trojan V2........Really nice plane but I'm used to Spektrum gear.......LOL!
@xxMADxMICKxx7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, so the settings I used in this vid has the flaps physically connected to channel 7 (AUX1) for the mixing. So you can't have other things in that channel or they'll be affected by the 3 pos switch. But maybe you can swap the dive break and the flaps in the receiver. Then see how that goes. Obviously you can't use the throttle cut (a little unsafe) or you'll cut the motor when you deploy the break. The Trojan is pushing the limits of this receiver.

+Michael Downie hi mate. I've actually gone away from the taranis to this for its simplicity. The taranis menus seem a bit more complex. I'd love to know your thoughts mate.
@xxMADxMICKxx8 жыл бұрын
G'day Blair. There is definitely a lot more programming options available in the Taranis that is for sure, so it can get complicated. Personally I found that the Turnigy 9x became limiting in a few areas for me. Firstly I ran out of slots to program models (but maybe I have too many planes). Using the standard module, there are no receivers available with fail safe, so that meant when flying FPV I could not engage my RTH if I lost the connection to the receiver. But, if you don't have too many models and get the FrSky module to plug in the back, then the Turnigy 9X is excellent. I still have mine and will use it for my son. I did get a bit confused with the Taranis at first, but found there is a lot of good KZbin vids describing all the programming I needed. I hope that helps. Cheers Michael

@xxMADxMICKxx10 жыл бұрын
Hi Vlad, thanks for the subscribe. As for the flaps speed, the ones in the Corsair are slow servos as standard. I dont know of any way to slow the flap servos without a special device. Another option that I have used on my BIX3 is to use one of the dials for the flaps. That way you can use regular servos and control the speed and amount of movement with the dial. You can do that though the AUX channels.Hope that helps.
@slodays11589 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael, this was very helpful. The aircraft I'm working on hasn't been flown as yet and it came with the flaps adjusted down a tiny bit. I just have to decide if I'll leave it as is or adjust the servo to make it truly 100% up but otherwise I have three positions working. PS. Is there the equivalent of subtrim for the flap to tweak the up position?
@xxMADxMICKxx9 жыл бұрын
G'day JDs Slo Days I am really glad to be of assistance. I can say that you should definitely be able to adjust the sub trim for the AUX channel in the TRIM menu. But I'd say the best thing would be to get it mechanically trimmed first. So, maybe take a go at adjusting the clevis on the flap. Or the arm on the servo. Cheers Michael

Hello MD, How would you set up the 9x, and with switch would you use to make a quadcopter flip a 360? Thanks!
@xxMADxMICKxx9 жыл бұрын
G'day Andre Campbell , I honestly have no idea how you'd program for a quad flip with the 9x. I have exactly zero experience with quads. Sorry. I have only flown fixed wing. I can say that you only have a few options to program the 9x switches and dials with the standard firmware. And obviously you would not want to program a dial for the flip, so it only leaves the throttle hold (top left), gear switch (top right), and flaps (3 pos switch). You'd might need to program one position of your chosen switch to run up two motors and stop the opposite two ? so you can flick the switch on and off. But really just guessing. Ideally, you'd want to use a momentary switch I'd think, like the trainer, but that can not be assigned. Sorry I can not be of much help. Cheers Michael

OK, I've watched this three times now and still can't get the flaps switch to activate the flaps servos. Only thing that moves them is the throttle hold switch, from one extreme to the other of the servo. I went screen by screen and think I have everything right. I have a 9x with stock software and a turnigy 6 channel recover. Any suggestions?
@xxMADxMICKxx9 жыл бұрын
Hi Dean Hallal the only thing that I think might be holding you back is the receiver that you have. In this video I have the 8 ch Turnigy installed and the mixing is done to the AUX (Ch 7) which you will not be able to do on yours. I have the flaps connected to a y-harness in to ch 7 of the receiver, leaving the ch 6 slot on the receiver empty. I think you must have your flaps plugged in to ch 6? That might be why the Throttle Cut is sending them from 100% to -100%, because in the first step, you assign the Throttle Hold to Ch 6. I wonder if you can do it in reverse, for your 6 ch receiver. i.e. assign in the transmitter, ch 7 to the throttle hold and then do the mix from ch 7 to ch 6, if you know what I mean. I have a few days off over Easter now, so I might be able to take a look at switching mine around to test for you. Also in the meantime, take a look at the Display screen from the menu of the Turnigy and see of the channel assignment and mix have worked. Cheers Michael
@dkhallal9 жыл бұрын
Michael Downie I think I follow what you're saying, will try that as well. I can actually see the flaps go to three positions on the display, but the only that moves then servo (just testing on a spare servo). Will keep trying. One position is better than one, but would be nice to have two.
@dkhallal9 жыл бұрын
Michael Downie well I fiddled for a while but I guess without understanding mixes very well I can't quite get it. I switched the aux channel from 6 to 7, and then switched the master and slave on each of the mixes and it sorta worked. With the throttle hold switch engaged the flap switch did what it is supposed to, but with it down each position change on the flap switch sends the servo in a max throw from one end to the other. Anyway, long day, and can't wrap my head around it, hence why I was looking here, but that's how ya learn. Have a big fly-in here this weekend, maybe someone can help. Thanks for your quick reply, if you come up with something let me know.
@xxMADxMICKxx9 жыл бұрын
Dean Hallal It sounds like you are so close! Maybe just recheck the UPRATE and DNRATE values in each of the mixes, for the position of the 3 pos switch. The UPRATE and DNRATE should be the values you are setting for the Flaps in each position of the THROHOLD switch. If they are opposite (-100 and 100 SW NOR) then the THROHOLD switch should not matter. So, do you have the MASTER now as AUX and the SLAVE as FLP for each of the three mixes?
@xxMADxMICKxx9 жыл бұрын
