Hi, Have been using carbon for pushrods for a long time now. Rough up the end of the carbon with sandpaper first, and rough file the steel Z bend shaft too. Slide a piece of heatshrink over the two, adjust the length to suit. Then, have your heatgun ready . . . Quick single drop of CA on either end of the heatshrink and immediately heatshrink it on. The CA wicks into the tube straight away. Have never had one come loose, evan in big crashes. Great build video!

Finally, after a couple of heavy landing with landing gear crash I have found the right lead weight at the internal forefront of the NACA: 20 grams! The total weight of airplane ( at flight, including 2200 mAh battery and 20 gr. lead) is of about 1,36 Kg . Too much heavy!! It is not a good project. The engine i barely sufficient for very smooth acrobatic flight. New engine like brushelss 3548 1100 KV is needed, with 12 x 6 APC. I will inform. Be tuned!

I have not well understood where to put the CG position; at 80 mm from the leading edge, as reported in the instruction sheet ? If this is the case, more than 150 grams of lead is necessary to be put on the nose!!

@@xxMADxMICKxx with 240 grams of lead on the internal forefront of the Naca the CG position is between 30 and 35 % of the mean aerodinamic chord. The battery is a 2200 mAh ( about 185 grams). The plane flight well but a little bit climbing during vertical down test with zero engine ( that's I think is good, to remain a little bit climbing). But in general I do not appreciate to have added 240 grams of lead that make the plane much more heavy.

@xxMADxMICKxx Жыл бұрын
Maybe go 2S on the stock setup, rather than changing everything to 4S. But all depends on how you use the Phoenix. I mostly slope, so rarely use the motor. Sometimes thermal/glide from the field, so only use the motor to climb. But if you fly like a plane, rather than a glider, then a 4s setup similar to the Excalibur would have it rocketing.

@DanielCValot2 жыл бұрын
That’s what I’m thinking but there’s a slope where I live it’s above the beach maybe 100 feet and there’s always great lift there and the railing goes down a walkway and behind the walkway there is grass about 100 yards wide and that grass runs about 300 yards parallel to the rail from stopping people from falling down the hillside and the wind comes into the hillside from a little bit of an angle but I used to fly there years ago and we would fly 6 foot sailplanes like the wander and things like that great place to fly but you have to be pretty sharp on your landings but now with ailerons I thought maybe the Phoenix 2000 with a 6 foot wingspan might be better for that application. But I think you’re right if I only pick one for right now for the next several months I think I’d rather go with the longer wingspan so probably it would be the Phoenix 2400 because the ASW’s are a little questionable unless it’s FMS and they’re very expensive It’s not like flying on a hillside it’s a little more confined and that’s why I think an 8 foot wingspan might be a little too much and then it would have to have flaps to slow it down when you come up over the rail flying parallel to the rail and then drop down on the grass
@xxMADxMICKxx2 жыл бұрын
@@DanielCValot I have really enjoyed the 1600 at the slope, but have also flown the ASW28 there too, nothing questionable about quality, but a bit of a pain putting togther and pulling apart to load in the car. A good friend has had the 1600, 2000 and 2400 and says the 2400 is a great slope plane. We can't have them all, I guess. But if you are getting just one for now, In my opinion the 2000 would be a great choice. It would be managable off the slope and coming in for tight landings as well as being good off the flat trying to catch thermals. Either way you go, any of the Lanyu/Volantex planes are fantastic !
@DanielCValot2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting back I thought I had replied to you the other day and I guess I did not and I just saw that, I apologize We could have a long discussion about this, I started flying a lot of thermals at a very large heart here about 12 miles from where I live and they fly thermals so for that the 2400 would be best but if I fly into Bluff above the beach the hillside only about 100 feet high but it’s got a great win coming pretty much straight off of the ocean onto the bluff maybe about a 45° angle and I used to fly there many years ago with a 6 foot wingspan floater with a fair dihedral and it flew excellent a lot of us flew there it was a big group It sounds like the Phoenix well might be a better choice than a SW 28 but the 28 has a T tail which the elevator is off the ground higher and won’t catch tall grass as much on the landing, what do you think? I just got into Flying, again about six months ago and it’s great, especially what’s going on in the world it’s a great getaway lol The point I really need to consider is when you mentioned about landing, where the plane is going to have a landing zone is going to be our strong determining factor and if that big park I was telling you it can land on freshly mowed lawn that they cut every other week it’s perfect but the slow is a little tricky to land on Do you have to fly along the rail on the hillside below and you come up over the rail and then quickly turn to straight and the plane back out parallel with the rail and the land, I have about a 200 yard landing song that’s about maybe 200 feet wide and for a 2 m playing it’s very easy but the 2400 question liability I wouldn’t want to cartwheel that plane, I can cart wheel wing and it just bounces around and then flies again but I will know that will not be the case with a conventional plane much over if it’s got a very big wingspan the only concern would be catching the wingtip as I try to level it out as I land when flying at the beach I have to give a little more thought to this and watch the guys at the big park fly the thermals, I was out there yesterday but they were finished by the time I got there so I’ll go again and watch them fly the thermals because that I have not done and it looks like a lot of fun so for that I would definitely want the 2400 and then paint it maybe a very dark gray with a bright orange tail and wing tips Thanks for the information you wrote because it helping me narrow down the plane because wings around four you can’t rest for a moment because the minute you take your I have that wing it’s gone!!!!! I’ll keep you posted when I get ready to purchase how are you, probably another month or two I’m just finished building one of my wings now Daniel

so you had better roll control with spoilerons than with flaperons? did you happen to mix your elevator in to keep a higher angle of attack when on spoilerons or are you just managing it by yourself on the stick? Thanks.
@xxMADxMICKxx2 жыл бұрын
G'day Jeferson, Roll control was fine either way, but my goal was to slow the plane for landings. Deflecting the ailerons up (spoilerons) seemed to be far more effective than deflecting them down (flaperons) . I didn't mix any elevator. The effect of the spoileron was to lift the nose of the plane, dropping the tail which gave it a higher angle of attack. Worked well for me.
@jefersonnl2 жыл бұрын
@@xxMADxMICKxx Thanks! I have this problem, a plane with high lift characteristics and a short space to land it on, and I have to 'nail it' right there. I think I'm gonna go with spoilerons then! Seems the way to bring it down fast without adding extra horizontal speed.

@@leaobicalho3245 I put it in as far in the front as it will go (there is plastic pocket) and the tab on the front of the canopy holds the battery in place

@@xxMADxMICKxx Hi Michael, thank you very much !! I did what you said !! First, my 3S battery only has 170 grams, so I put the difference (250gr-170g) of 80 grams on the front, attached to the engine grille !! Only with this change I already managed to have a very stable and pleasant flight !! I was really sad, because flying with heavy weight is very difficult, and I only fly for 3 months, I almost crashed the plane !! Today I did 20 minutes of flight with the correct CG, and thank God everything went wonderfully well !! Thank you very much !!!

I have the small version of this sonic wing and it's a little weapon in the air, especially on 4S. Never got around to getting the big one, but I have always wanted to try one. Next time I see one on sale, I might just grab it for funzies. Good video and nice to see more content from you. 😊👍

Thanks for the comment Vas. IMO this is the best flying wing available at the moment. A few of the other guys have had the mini AR Wing, but it tended to tip stall a lot. I think all the guys I fly with that have this plane, have at least 2, one guy has 4! Currently on sale from Aussie warehouse even cheaper than I picked it up for! Hi Michael-you stopped Water flying? Will the cessna alive? I built my own Waterplane with folding wings. Look for "Libelle 2020",please! Original: -Dornier Libelle 1921-

G'day! i have taken the floats off the Cessna for now and fly it from the ground occasional. Most of my flying buddies dont have any planes to fly from the water so i don't bother much. It is always better to fly with a few friends. i will look up your Libelle. Cheers Michael

Like me! I had to much risk's on the landing's with the Cessna. With the gear I will fly sometimes on the Runway on the deaktivated Airbase called "Leipheim". (The ME 262 had there the first flight, the ME 321 and the ME323 was built and tested there.) Where is your Friend with the Catalina? I prefer Waterflying to relax and enjoy the nature. The "Libelle" is very safe. Now i have stopped Waterflying, because the Lake is half closed with Ice. I'm afraid to freeze solid on the Ice, in case of a problem! Have fun !

@@Bastlmartin I still fly often with my friend Mark that had the Catalina, but that plane (well the wing at least) was recycled into a slope plane!

@@xxMADxMICKxx Hello, why had Mark demounted the Catalina. I think, the Flöats Outside will be the Problem at flötsam or waves? Please ask him because im Interestet at the Catalina's Problem! With Mark you have lost the "Rescue" system-if your Cessna had problems-bad!

@@Bastlmartin it was a couple of years back I think. From memory he was never really satisfied with the way it flew in the air. But in the end there was an accident on landing that caused the ESCs to get wet and short circuit. After that Mark use the main wing without the motors and tail (I think) on a fuselage of his ow design to slope soar! It was quite a good slope plane in the end.
