lt is not a low budget setup, it's a quality classic setup that looks very cool that she wanted .
@benjaminkenobi214 жыл бұрын
@@stevegreenwood7837 Actually yeah, I'd say it's a low budget setup, because these components (especially the Marantz receiver) are far cheaper to acquire and restore today than buying new components of equivalent capability. The components are good quality while being simultaneously cheaper because they're old.
@benjaminkenobi214 жыл бұрын
@@Badassvidsz It's low budget in terms of cost today because it's old, and an equally or comparatively capable receiver today would cost much more to acquire.

I still have my first"real" stereo I bought way back in 1977. It is a complete Sansui stereo ,881 receiver,SE9 equalizer,3060 turntable and four SP2000 speakers. Also use a Sony first gen. cd player. Have it hooked up to my DTV receiver and have a neat Pioneer 8-track player. The stereo still plays 100% today and sounds awesome. Love that vintage gear!!

Great vintage setup there which would be relatively low cost nice one! I do take exception to what you said at 8:10 where you stated that it's better to have more higher powered speakers than the amp. I see why you say this but it's actually better to have a higher powered amp than the speakers to allow for headroom so you don't get distortion going into the speakers which could blow them up! Distortion is far more dangerous than overall power for speakers fyi. Good video though.

I also had a sansui amp and tuner. they were solid as heck and weighed a lot. @venturarodriguezvallejo15675 жыл бұрын
Nice setup (the Marantz is the Jewell of your Crown). Just two or three considerations. First, change the speaker cables for other more decent (Amazon Basics is a good and cheap option). Second: if you want to upgrade your turntable, the cartridge is the key. An Ortofon moving magnet will be a must. Third: do NOT use the preamp included in the turntable. Just skip it and connect it directly to your receiver "phono" input. It is, given its date of release to the market, far superior than the cheap included into the turntable, trust me. Fourth: put the speakers onto stands. You have been quite lucky for getting all this gear for such little money. Unfortunately, things on E.Bay not always go so well. My congratulations. (I forgot it: It is more advisable to have MORE power in the amplifier than the one supposed to be admitted by the speakers. If the amp clips in a momentaneous demand of current, it sends D.C. to the speakers and this is the most common way to burn the tweeters. An usual mistake).

How does those speakets sound? I bought a set last week for €10 but had no time to check them out yet. They need some cleaning and smell after smoke..... I also found some modification for the filter on a forum for Philips collectors. They seem to sound pretty good. I love those so called budget set ups. Got 4 vinatge turntables from 1952, 1974 and early '80's a 40 year old Akai receiver, 15 year ols Sony CD player and a pair of Jamo speakers. Paid little less than €100 for the lot. Some needed work on lights and non running motors but that's half the fun. The 1952 Joboton player is used for playing 78 rpm records. Sounds amazing!

Nice, I've got a 1988 Technics rack, turntable, tuner, amp, graphic equalizer, CD and tape deck with 2 Kef speakers and 2 Celestion speakers. I've also got some Technics surround speakers that match. They're small sphere-shaped speakers and they only add a little to the sound so I don't use them so much.

Should you have the urge to try the Reverse on the TT, make sure your cartridge can handle the stress or you may be shopping for a new cartridge. The power rating on speakers is not very important. Most listening uses just a couple of watts. The distortion levels of the amp are more important. It is distortion/clipping that will blow a speaker, not power. I have been playing with audio since the 60's. I can count my incidents with blown drivers on one hand and none were due to too much power. 1- A pair of Cerwin Vega 351HEDs (early '80s) needed the woofers refoamed/rebuilt as they disintegrated from age. Factory rebuilt them and they are still going strong today. 2-Klipsch Sub Woofer blew the driver. I replaced the driver and still had an issue. It turned out the amp had gone bad. replaced the built in amp and 10yrs later it's still going strong. The replacement parts were non-Klipsch drop in replacements. 3-Boston Acoustics HD5s. I have several of these bookshelf speakers and everyone, in different setups, had the Woofer surrounds fall apart. Poorly designed Woofer appears to be the problem, replaced the woofers with non-BA aftermarket drivers and again 10yrs later they're still going strong. That's it. Not one was blown because of too much power.
