RIP XXXTENTACION. While we have publicly disagreed with many of his life decisions, no one in their right mind would wish what happened upon him. There's no doubt this man has helped countless people through their pain and suffering. Through reviewing nearly all of his music, we got to see a window into that world. It was clear X had a powerful unique musical talent for his age. It's sad to see him go so early in his life. [From Instagram: instagram.com/p/BkL9qSXFY55/]

"When I turned 13, I blew out my candles, my wish was to be dead at the age of 18." - XXXTENTACION, 12/10/16 I think that's why he named the album 17, he wanted that to be his last year living. Concerning the repeating all throughout the album; Xxxtentacion expressed in "Everyone dies in their nightmares" that he's trapped inside his mind or he can't escape certain thoughts. So these thoughts constantly repeat/rewind in his head over and over. That helps to explain the repetitive nature of the album.

We knew XXXTENTACION had the capabilities of making more melancholic, atmospheric self reflective music which we have previously enjoyed and yearned for. Now he delivers. It’s still very early in this album’s release, but we both thoroughly enjoyed this body of work. While many critique 17 for being too simplistic, ‘not fleshed out’ enough and lacking creativity, we generally agree with that. However we believe 17 was never suppose to be any of those thing’s, and it is in fact, doing exactly what it was set out to do. 17 is simply a collection of thoughts and experiences transparently turned from written word and one’s thoughts, into sonics. Yes, you can say that about pretty much all music. However, typically music is then polished with creativity, complexity and substance. 17 is not. It’s bare bone and raw. It’s naked. It’s not stereotypically pretty, even though the lacy piano’s and basic guitar riffs make for a pleasurable auditory experience. 17 is honest and vulnerable and seems like it’s doing exactly what it intended to do. There aren’t any filler tracks and the album doesn’t overstay it’s welcome…instead it actually leaves you wanting more. While this may be a grandiose statement to our youthful ears, XXTENTACION is showcasing why he’s in the conversation of one of the most diverse and prolific artists in any genre within music under 25. There’s very few who have the talent to tap into this many genres while creating a cult like fan base. Depression & Obsession: Being Depressed & being in love w a woman leads to emotional torture when the relationship turns toxic. The depressed one will start to hate the person he's w but refuse to let go bc that woman is in a sense a "drug" that helps that depression. A "drug" that person hates but is obsessed with. "I hate her. It's hard to love how I feel my stomach turning."

People who say his album is bad really need to back off. Remember "explanation" and if you dont care or can't relate then fuck off. Stop saying it's poorly produced because it's his thoughts and his idea to put it out there, so acknowledge the fact he's putting this up in order to help those whom need it.

So if I took all of that into consideration, I should just like it? Taking everything you said into consideration and more, I still don't like this album. Some people ACTUALLY have reasons to either hate or don't like this album, and they're not all sheep.

for depression and obsession, he's saying he's depressed and relies on certain things, specifically girls, to numb his depression, and when that something that he "obsesses" over leaves, the depression gets worse, therefore meaning depression and obsession doesn't mix well
