Voice acting that's originally in English doesn't tend to be all that loud or energetic unless it's for kid shows. Dubbed voice acting for anime tends to JUST be loud, with the actors and really the people doing the hiring not understanding that just being loud doesn't match the over-acted performances given in the original works. And dubbed voice acting for anything else tends to ignore whatever the original was entirely. Hell, sometimes they ignore translating.

What I really love about this and the halloween movie monsters one besides the comedy, cuteness, and real feeling dialogue is the fact that they start out encountering the strange, unfamiliar, and seemingly dangerous but they nervously continue and find out it’s just fine. This is what anxiety feels like but its nice to know that scary things aren’t always scary as they seem. Especially now.

I just love his face of wonder and joy, whether playing the xylophone at :25 or holding his Tom Waits record at :32. In black and white, testament to good memories had of pleasures experienced in the heat of the moment, while narrated ruefully in hindsight as to what led to their current predicament. Nervous, seeking a way out, they halt at the sound of what made them feel so wholesome. The Xylophone. The cheap xylophone they bought instead of splurging on the pricier model. But its enough to rally them into givng their all into a crowd that never felt more alive than that moment. Listening to the woody, haunting, under-utilized instrument of rock n roll.
