L.A.’s mindset is, if you weren’t born and/or spent the entirety of your childhood in Los Angeles then you can’t credibly claim the city or the region as your home(town) I think its stupid because i’m like Game, growing up I thought Xzibit was entirely an L.A. native due to how he represented L.A. culture and the city so well. When I found out that he didn’t spend the entirety of his life in Los Angeles, it made no difference to me, I still considered him to be an authentic Los Angeleno because he moved here before the fame and fortune, embraced the city, earned his stripes and represented for the culture. The same goes for Kurupt (Philadelphia), Nate Dogg (Mississippi), The D.O.C. (Texas) and Tupac (New York) they all came from different places but migrated to L.A., made a name for themselves and played their role in keeping the city relevant in hip-hop. You’ve earned your L.A. badge if you’ve done that in my opinion.
