When I was a young man and Mark was playing on the Knicks, one day I was walking through a parking lot and Mark came through about twenty feet away from me. I had been having a bad day. I looked up and saw him talking with some other players. Mark saw me, and shouted to me like he knew me. It made my day and I'll never forget it. Mark....where ever you are brother....keep your head up. People who love you know the man you are.

im born ad raised in Nassau, Bahamas. When i was 15 mark Jackson came to the Bahamas to visit my church (Pastor Myles BFM). I didnt know he was such a strong man of faith but he spoke at our church and his wife at the time SANG as well. I'll never forget this day because i had hoop asperations (ended up getting a full scholy to prep school in Massachusetts following year). My mom didnt know who he was but i BEGGED her to take me to meet him. He gladly took a pic with me and after i told him what i wanted to do he told me i would make it; I didnt play in the league but i had a great college career and i Played in the G-league (D-league back then) for Tulsa for a short time. ..I'll never forget meeting him that day. im 38 now

Steve Kerr was literally handed a Porsche and told not to crash it. I will never forget when the Warriors won that championship in 2015, Mark Jackson got choked up as he was literally on the sideline calling the game for the very team HE BUILT. It was Draymond Green that ran over to him, gave him a hug and put the championship hat on Mark's head. That memory is forever etched in basketball history for me.

Fair play to Stephen A. Admittedly, I am not his biggest fan, but respect for this segment. Mark has been given a poor deal by the league. His dismissal from GSW was dodgy, and the fact he hasn’t been hired by the Clippers or Knicks has baffled me. Great work here by everyone involved.

He was great. When he retired, he was second all-time leader in assists, behind only John Stockton. The Pacers were really good in the late 90s. They took the Bulls to Game 7 in '98, and every game was a nailbiter. Jackson was key to that. The Pacers were scoring more efficiently, but weren't getting as many attempts, mostly because of Dennis Rodman. Jackson was The General. He orchestrated that offense.

This is by far one of the best commentaries you have done. I felt every bit of the emotion. I applaud you for speaking up for him. Jealousy, insecurities, and hate have destroyed countless lives and professions of Black people. At some point, those who are righteous have to bind together to stomp out this form of evil. I truly enjoy his commentary and he is right on the spot every time - if anyone out there is going out of their way to tarnish this man's career or future - you really are scum - I am just a fan of basketball, a lifetime Lakers fan - but Mark is in my adult fair unbiased intelligent opinion based on my own observations of his knowledge of basketball and leadership is a phenomenal expert and deserves to have a head-coaching job - I am shocked that the Lakers when they were looking did not hire him - He needs to stay in basketball because he is great for it. I'm no Mark Jackson fan but I remember when he said that Steph and Klay would be the best shooting backcourt of all time and everyone LAUGHED at this man. Ridiculed him when he refused to separate them. Again, I'm no Mark Jackson fan but the fact that he doesn't have a job in the league is ridiculous. Stephen A. earned my sub with this one. Salute! I dated one of Mark’s relatives, and I well remember my girl raving about how decent, kind, and God-fearing he was behind the scenes and around his extended family. His cardinal sin, I hear, was holding people morally accountable-a nearly impossible task in a sports culture where gifted athletes haven’t been told “no” or “stop” since they were eight years old. I normally don’t listen to Stephen A…but something told me to click this…he’s 1000% correct…Mark Jackson needs to be in the NBA because he’s a basketball mind that needs to coach these players in today’s game SA really putting his career on the line to take a stand on what he believes. Gotta respect it 💯This is by far one of the best commentaries you have done. I felt every bit of the emotion. I applaud you for speaking up for him. Jealousy, insecurities, and hate have destroyed countless lives and professions of Black people. At some point, those who are righteous have to bind together to stomp out this form of evil. For the record, it isn't just whites who are committing the slander, I've witnessed Blacks doing it to each other. I've been a victim of it. Shine the light on all those fools who do it! Always loved and will forever love Mark Jackson. Always wanted him to coach the Knicks and still can’t wait to see the day he does. That powerful message thanks to Stephen A Smith💯spoke truth to power I still remember when ESPN pundits laughed at Mark Jackson when he said Steph & Klay were going to be the best shooting backcourt of all time...YALL STILL LAUGHING AT HIM!!! Mark Jackson literally BUILT the GSW, and then they swooped in and gave Kerr all the credit for them winning. Mark Jackson had a better record every year, yet he was still fired after winning 51 games... DO YALL REMEMBER HOW FUCKING TERRIBLE GSW WERE!!?? Good stuff, Stephen A. Mark Jackson is a great man and does an awesome job as a coach and analyst. Steven A. always keeps it real! I remember the years that Jackson played with the Pacers. When he was on point (no pun), he was unstoppable. I remember during one of the games against the Bulls (don't remember if it was the playoffs or not), Scotty Pippen was trying to guard him and Jackson just kept his back facing Pippen as he kept inching to the Pacers goal. Back then you could lean back. He did so and spun and laid it up on him. You should have seen Scottie's face. He looked like he was going to cry to the refs. 😂😂 Mark Jackson love your professionalism and knowledge of the game Mama there goes that man loves it ♥🙏🏾🤛🏿This is just crazy. Great person, coach, player, mentor, analyst, friend. When he played for my Pacers. I remember him most for a couple of things. He made the league modify the rules b/c he was backing down players from half-court 😂. And he would lead a post-game prayer center court. Many if not most of the opposing players, coaches, and trainers would join. Mark Jackson gave Golden State its foundation. Everyone thought he was crazy. But this dude is a stand-up guy. As a Knick fan and a New Yorker, I would have loved to have heard him on MSG. Mark Jackson deserves another chance to be a head coach in the NBA! He has a high IQ of the game just listening to him analyze players and strategies.

@@kharyvines6971 Of all the Cali teams back then GSW weren’t even mentioned 😂. As far as commentary goes, he had some of the best knowledge and one liners. Him, Van Gundy, and Breen made the games exciting. Especially during the Finals.

As a man that is pretty damn moderate when it comes to Faith(of my religion). I’ve noticed that ESPN has been hiring bad apples and firing people with a strong faith. It’s a weird string of events happening.

This MAN was a Pacers savior/Highlight reel! I am 61 years old and remember the glory of the ABA Pacers and the likes of Darnell Hellman, Roger Brown, Bob Netolecki, Bobbie Leonard ETC... Mark brought that old school ethic and ABA presence back to our game in Indy and I respect him for that alone, Not just as a player but a coach!

( 0:50 ) not only rookie of the year in 1988, but an All Star in 1989. Currently 6th all time in assists, ranking 1st in 1997, and second to John Stockton when they played together in Utah. Mark Jackson also helped innovate and popularize the "teardrop" shot.

@@richardgraham802 I have always had respect for Coach Jackson. The Warriors players and Steve Kerr rightly give him credit for creating their "culture of winning". Mark deserves lots of love for doing so well as a Knick, sometimes playing for your home town team can wear a player down. I remember him more from his time with the Pacers, where he and Chris Mullen were the only players in the league still wearing low top sneakers, lol. Mark had a really good career on the court, and after retirement has an nearly equally good career as a broadcaster.
