If it wasn’t for Mark Jackson the warriors would have never been and I don’t believe Steve Kerr is the reason they made it over the hump kuz they were already gonna get there. This season is a testament to how much better of a coach Mark Jackson was than Steve Kerr is kuz Mark Jackson had one established player an he built tha rest of’em up from rookies. This season Steve Kerr has tha same thing Mark Jackson had but he isn’t doing as good. Steve Kerr was handed a championship team but now we’re seeing him be tested without having his All-NBA Players.

@@MrChuckFB What? Jackson was holding the team back lmao, sure he deserves credit for turning the team into a brotherhood. Thing is though MJax was creating drama between assistant coaches and the front office, not to mention he would run iso and force the offense to stagnate. He had Harrison Barnes come off as the the sixth man and run isos while Curry, Klay, Lee and Iggy were on the bench. If they never hire Kerr, then this team would've never made it past the 2nd round.

Because he came prepared knowing they were going to ask that question. It's a well known fact that people want to get some Intel from the players or somebody, as most of you want to call out Kerr, and say he inherited Jackson's team. Noone ever says Larry brown inherited Rick Carlisle championship team of Detroit. The fact is mark Jackson got himself fired. You will never know whether he could have won a championship, yet alone 3. Steph is humble and won't throw Kerr under the bus. My opinion.

I appreciate mark for instilling toughness and confidence in the team, but kerr is a better x's and o's coach while still connecting with every player on the team. Some changes steve kerr made after replacing mark jackson: -made iggy and david lee come off the bench, allowing a young barnes and draymond to thrive with the starters and allowing the bench to thrive w/iggy. -stopped running hockey substitutions when the entire bench lineup consists of only the bench and no starters -empowered his assistant coaches and players (this helps vocal leaders like draymond and keeps end-of-the-bench players engaged) -put in a motion offense which emphasized a lot more movement and passing, which suits steph and klay a lot better, and unlocks draymond's passing (jackson's warriors were near last in the league in passes, iso'd a lot and played with a slow pace)

For anyone saying that Mark Jackson built the team, and that Steve Kerr inherited some dynasty of a franchise, here are some thoughts. The diversity of offensive sets we used to run under Mark Jackson was......nonexistent. A lot of aimless perimeter movement, sparse off ball picks, a lot of Steph dribbling around in some unfavorable isolation with < 6 seconds left on the shotclock, akin to what you see Harden do these days. Steph ended up being gassed by the end of games in many situations, which would basically induce our entire offense crumbling. I'd certainly credit Mark Jackson for instilling the *importance* of defense, but I think we missed the mark on execution in a lot of ways. If anyone watched the series vs the clippers in 2013 - 2014, we absolutely had the talent to win the game, and were in a really good position coming out of the first if I remember correctly. We just got TIRED becuase of the lack of fluidity on offense. Some of our best offensive ideas (which admittedly we stole from the Spurs, but implemented in our own ways); ice, horns, elevator screens, the plethora of off ball movemenent and screens, beautiful uses of dribble hand-offs, all the awesoem out of bounds plays, were ALL architected by Kerr. If there's a coach that probably deserved too much credit, it's probably when Luke Walton inherited the system that Kerr built for us, and people were discussing how good of a coach he might be in the future when we went 40-3 or whatever in that 2016-2017 season. I'm still of the opinion that Steve Kerr is underrated as a tactician. JUST MY TWO CENTS. Thanks for reading.

Steve Kerr followed brilliantly in the footsteps of his mentor Phil Jackson...meaning that after all the heavy lifting was done, he comes in and wins a championship & then is considered a great coach. Someone please tell me again why Doug Collins was fired in 1989 after the Bulls got to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pistons (who were favored to win the title that year)? They bring in Phil Jackson and he wins approximately one more game than Doug Collins did the year before. Some coaches aren't great unless they step in to ready-made championship situations. Kerr was blessed to walk into a team with 3 hall of famers and he benefited from that and looked like a better coach. His team is almost in last place in the West though if he didn't have all that talent he would look terrible just like this year

Steve has the experience of being a coach cause he’s played for Greg Popavich and Phil Jackson. Edit: if you don’t get why Steve Kerr is so much better than Mark Jackson is cause Mark kept running ISO’s for Steph. And then when he got fired and Steve came in, Steve brought the ball movement to the Warriors and under Steve, Klay went off. He made changes to have David Lee and Andre Iguodala come off the bench. And because of those changes, Dubs would go on the be the most dominant team in the second half of the decade.

I don't think the Monta Ellis-Andrew Bogut trade gets enough credit. With ball-dominant Monta gone, it gave Steph full keys to the offense, unlocking Chef Curry in the process, and that's when we started seeing Steph cook the competition. MarkJax gets bonus points for implementing a good defensive game for GSW, though, but it's Steve Kerr's system that truly unlocked MVP Curry. MarkJax relied too much on Curry isos whereas Steve Kerr realized that Steph would be at his best being the greatest decoy in NBA history, drawing defenses well beyond the 3-point line, hence giving the rest of the team an absurdly wider room to operate.
@AyeYoYoYooo

Lemme explain why Mark Jackson hasn’t even been considered by any ownership, for another job by any organization: Mark Jackson wanted Steph & Klay to shoot less 3’s, even said Steph was “ruining the game” setting a bad precedent for kids, by shooting too many 3’s, as the kids didn’t want to work on other aspects of their game. Started a fake beef based on lies between his own starters and bench players, telling his starters that Festus Ezeli was actively rooting against their team success. Did this type of pitting bench players against starters and vice versa with many other players too. All based on lies. Wanted executive Jerry West, one of the all time best players in NBA history, and the one who scouted & drafted all the Warriors stars, banned from team practice facilities. Told the team Harrison Barnes slump was due to demonic possession. Refused Bob Myers offer of an unlimited blank check to sign the most expensive offensive assistant coaches, to better utilize the generational offensive talents of Steph & Klay, multiple times, saying “we’re fine with the staff we have”. Was openly & vocally anti-LGBTQ lifestyle, when numerous employees in the Warriors organization are LGBTQ, including team president Rick Welts, who is popular in the very pro-gay Bay Area. Tried to proselytize owner Joe Lacob’s son Kirk Lacob, when the Lacob family is Jewish, who think Christ was just a dishonest insane blasphemer, who is in hell “boiling in hot excrement” since his execution. Trying to proselytize/Christianize an owner’s son is very important, because the majority of NBA owners are Jewish, and don’t want to hire and empower such vocally prominent Christians, who push their views on everyone in the organization, regardless of if it’s the owner’s family, or a trainer. Back to his toxicity in locker rooms….This is the same guy, who as an older player, actively tried to stage a coup against fellow veteran hall of fame starting PG John Stockton, starting fake beefs between Jazz players and Stockton. Again, all based on Jackson’s own lies. He’s a toxic psycho cult leader type, hiding behind the image of a moral preacher.

Uncle Tony --so did Derek fisher how’d that turn out. “System ball” will get you but so far without the talent to actually implement the system. Lotta Kerr fanboys on here viewing him as the messiah. Do remember he initially turned down the head coach job of the knicks before heading to GS. Do you think he would’ve even sniffed the playoffs with the Knicks roster and his “genius”? I don’t. I think he inherited a very talented roster tweaked the playbook won two chips and stole another with the addition of Durant. Talent and the accumulation of talent is the driving force behind championships. Steve Kerr didn’t unlock chit, he made the right choice at the right time so he wouldn’t look like a rookie coach struggling with a mediocre talented roster.

@86byrdman 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Bogut was probably the main player that stood out who had a conflict with Mark Jackson. Jackson kind of lost points with Bogut when Jackson mentioned in a postgame interview that Bogut got injured sleeping. It seemed like after that happened, Bogut kind of tuned out Mark Jackson and got hurt when the Warriors needed him later on in the 2013-2014 season. Sometimes I wonder if Kerr was coaching the Warriors at that time, if Bogut would've came back for the playoffs at least. Warriors really could've used him in that 2014 1st rd playoff series against the Clippers. It went 7 games. If Bogut would've played, Warriors probably would've won that series against the Lob City Clippers.... Yeah, Bogut was injury prone, but he might've been done with Mark Jackson after those comments, and who knows, probably didn't want to play for him anymore. Jackson and Bogut was kind of a weird match anyway because Jackson had a strong personality and was a Christian. Not sure if Bogut is a Christian or not, but he was kind of more outspoken and he had kind of a strong personality too. They were kind of two totally different guys personality wise. Their relationship kind of came to a head in the 2013-2014 season with those comments. Outside of Bogut, I think most of the Warriors players were cool with Mark Jackson..... They would go to his church services and stuff.
