It seems we want... what we already have, but better 😄 It is almost disappointing since it won't probably be as groundbreaking as it could have been. I guess innovative concepts emerge more easilly when carried by a single mind/group (like the 2Fiddy). Not an issue at all, just an observation (I did vote for a sturdy freestyle setup 🤦♂😆)
@chris-jones2 жыл бұрын
Not "almost" it is disappointing. There's a million and one durable freestyle frames out there this could've been an opportunity to get something completely different but we blew it.
@adamking69572 жыл бұрын
I feel like Tommy put this thing out there and now feels like he has to do it because he committed to it. But yeah. Lame as hell. There’s a ton of durable 5” frames that carry a GoPro. Yawn

We already know that a 5-6" quad is basically ideal for hauling a GP-Hero camera... I feel like this was such a missed opportunity. I kinda want to just send Tommy one of my 7" rigs to see what he can do with one of them

Slightly disappointed in the direction this has gone, I was hopeful that we would get something innovative in the seven inch space as it has so much potential in terms of flight performance, efficiency, speed.

What if...the arms were foldable AND/OR quickly removable so we could swap between lighter arms and thicker arms depending on situation with plug in motors and tunes ready to swap. A modular drone of sorts. Call it the Voltron

That sounds sick. It might be hard to have a tune that works with both arm sets though.

To get the full benefits of a folding frame you need to use 2-bladed or folding props. Besides which, most of my frames end up folding (eventually) anyway :-)

Was hoping for a micro but this works for me. Voted for the Durabando, let’s gooo! This is what happens when we have an average of everyone’s opinions. I guess the most common case use for fpv is freestyle. I do think WE could have looked outside the box a bit but I’m sure Tommy and his team wont let us down. This whole concept of a community build is so unique and I’ve never felt so involved from a comment/ vote before. What he doesn’t make this time he could make in his next build and what it lacks will inspire his competitors to design something better. Do you have any idea what your turnover is like from design to finished product? (So I can start saving)

What about durability paired with ease of repair/replace? I understand durable and lightweight usually do not go hand and hand but I think a compromise could be made with a new design for replacing arms. At this point its cheaper to replace an arm then a motor. So making the arm the weakest point with quick and easy arm replacement without interfering with the stack would be optimal.
@GTXgb-gt8lz2 жыл бұрын
I agree, especially now with the MR30 connectors and everything, I think it would help with weight as well
@sylvanlight1202 жыл бұрын
Cool idea... Though you could end up with a monstrosity😁. Deffo keep away from deadcat design... Longer rear arms causing more motor wobble oscillation. Also, folding arms could be a nightmare in regards resonance. I missed the first round of voting but a clean vibration free frame is really important.... Better footage, smoother flying, more responsive control input and longer lasting parts.

Imagine this. You can pack 4 quads in your bag for the space of 2! We're talking about inside the bag and not dangling outside! That's the big deal about folding quads! I can already imagine the look on my friends when I unzip my bag after exiting the airport.

Want to be different than all the other quad makers (besides DJI)? Add a GPS and a Vifly GPS Mate to your build. I don't know why they aren't offered on standard FPV builds. It only adds about 20 bucks of cost, it doesn't add much weight and doest take up much space. I have seen more than one of you pros lose drones where basic betaflight GPS rescue would have saved it. I realize this is more of a frame build but just throwing out some ideas. It would definitely be a positive factor on my next prebuilt quad purchase.

you'll have to contact rotor riot, that's their motor. And I think you have a vibration issue to sort through. Check hardware first, and then filtering via blackbox

foldable arms will inherently introduce vibration making the tune VERY difficult to dial in. just my 2 cents and something to think about...at the end of the day, durability should win out despite weight for newer pilots. crashing your quad is part of the hobby but if it's durable, you won't be replacing as many parts, thus saving a lot of money! but that's just the cheapo in me talking...lol. still totally diggin' the fact that you're involving the community to design the "perfect" frame...keep up the great work!
@wyrefpv95532 жыл бұрын
Hey Tommy, I'm loving the ideas but one thing I would like to put out there is cost of the frame. Not all of us can afford a $90 frame and is there anyway that you can make this Community Build to a more affordable end cost? I'm not saying it has to be close to say a Source one frame but more around the $50 mark i think would be better for the majority of pilots. Just a thought and I know that your time and effort is worth more than that so please dont think that I'm trying to sell you short!

Traditional Xframe slight stretch 5 or 6 hd capable. But don`t make the back longer for hd instead make the front longer so you can put a vista or hd zero behind the fpv camera. The way I see frames designed for Hd puts all the weight in back making the quad not balanced from front to back. By designing the frame with the front stretched to make room for HD you kill 2 birds with one stone. Quad will be more balanced and less prop in the view of the fpv camera and gopro.
