EPRP and MEISON, in spite of their wide support among students, failed totally because of leadership weakness.

Communists have messed Ethiopia, and their imported belief of public ownership and its implementation has become a serious economic problem of Ethiopia. They still do not regret their wrong political decisions.

How old are you? I think you are commenting as if today is 50 years ago. Communism at that time was an ideology accepted almost by every young and literate generations of the world. It had won one-third of the world, i.e. 1/3 of the countries of the world had either socialist or socialist-oriented governments. Therefore, the educated and young generation of Ethiopia at that time could not have been different. So, why should we regret?

This was the reason too for people like Sebhat Nega to start the TPLF
This man is one of the architects of the foolish Nationalisations of Urban Houses & Land Proclamation and Public Ownership of Rural Land Proclamation of 1975 without any study. These foolish proclamations are still haunting Ethiopians by creating serious housing shortages and poor and mismanagement of rural land under government ownership. The rural land nationalisation was the main cause of the famine of 1985 and the continuing famine in the country. Sadly, he still feels proud of his work on the two proclamations.

So how did the 1965/66 famine happen. Obviously land was owned by feudals. I am not saying if was perfect, but the burden of poor tillers was lifted. Few aristocrats owned a vast fertile land. Even worse the younger and modern offsprings of these feudalls started uprooting the poor tillers from their land for.modern farming with tractors. So, the land reform or the proclamation averted these mess.
