It happened when I visited bangkok. The hotel arranged me and my guest in a separate breakfast dining area. All Chinese tourist were allocated in another dining area. Of course, our service is definitely better, food and environment.
NUS has an open layout, I used to drive thru their campus to my sister's place as a shortcut, and my colleagues and i have eaten at their cafeteria a couple of times when i used to work nearby, they dont have a campus wall or gate to block ppl from entering. NTU probably is that same.

It’s true that many mainlanders treated the Singapore universities like a zoo and previously there’s many complaints from our students on the chaos they created in the morning when they vie for the transport resources during peak travelling hours. So afterwards the school deterred tourists from using their transport during peak hours and curbed access to their dining areas and other venues for tourists during certain periods like the golden week. However, I believed more appropriate measures have to be metered out to ensure that our students don’t get overwhelmed by the influx of tourists.

For me it’s more complex to recognize Singaporean and Malaysian. I like them both. They are very upbeat. The same problem not only happened in Singapore, but all around the world. The main problem is they don’t have the right knowledge to know how to behave in others countries. You need to put everything in the law then they may know what they can’t do. But in other countries you know what should and what you should not do. No need to put everything in the law.
‘’What the West Can Learn From Singapore Data shows that in key areas, Singapore is better at governing than the U.S. and Britain. By Graham Allison, a professor of government at the Harvard Kennedy School.
