I stopped at the bar that goes over the engine, cut my arm open just getting the bolts off then realized I had to loosen the other side just to attach what I just detached. Needless to say I then had to take apart other shiii just to do that. Ohh well I learned my Suzuki a bit and will come better prepared next time to do exactly as these guys did, I need a new valve cover gasket as it has been leaking for a few years. While I am in there I am going to do all kinds of other stuff that I have NEVER done in my life, hahahahaha

Question Are all the bolts the same size on a 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara and do you have to use gasket sealer when installing new gaskets

Not difficult to replace. You can replace the #1, and #3 (I think) without removing the chain. Just align and or mark the position of the chain before removing anything. I replaced two, of the three tensioners and a couple guides recently. The only hassle is just all the parts you have to remove to get there. Don't forget to replace the round seal on the timing cover for the crank when you have it off. I took a few photos, but sorry no video.

You had to apply pressure at one end once u had the other end bolts in but make sure the bolts are not fully secured. Thus, it would be easier to get the other side done while u apply heavy pressure to align correctly. Pain in the ass but good cars

Not EGR, PCV. but if your doing this to clean out the , you’ll need to soak the valve covers in diesel to loosen up the carbon inside the the hollow portion on the top of the covers.

I like to know how easy to was to get to the inner 3rd nut/bolt that holds the rear intake (one with throttle body mounted). This is one pain in the ass car to work on. If you ever have to replace the valve cover gaskets, just drive it over a cliff. L☺L

a block of wood and a mallet on a stubby closed end wrench...small hands are an asset also! I was able to leave the rear manifold section in place, just have to detach that clamp that anchors the EGR pipe. Again I can't emphasize enough about the hand size!
