Took me way too long, but I finally watched this! Gotta say, you did an amazing job of going over the entire franchise and explaining everything! Since Yo Kai Watch constant is so minimal on this platform (especially compared to more popular franchises like Pokemon) it was such a great experience seeing someone clearly care so much about the series and go through the effort of sharing that! As for yo kai watch 4, i started to play this game this summer, i put an italian patch that for now seems very complete and went blind. The amount of content that i met for where i'm now it's massive, surely one of the fullest game of the entire franchise. The characters have a pretty clear personality and i really like them. Can't talk about a lot since i'm not very far from the start but surely it has great potential. Happy that i've been able to follow this great retrospective serie, you inspired me to try and make my own version. Congrats dude :D

I only just got into the franchise properly, but I’ve known about this game/anime for a while due to it being HEAVILY inspired tokusatsu shows like Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and Super Sentai (Power Rangers) I will say, it’s interesting to see someone talk about this without bringing those up, but it’s probably more important to focus on the actual game itself without diving headfirst into another part of Japanese pop culture

ah, y academy... it definitely makes me feel things! i thought the overall idea was pretty cool, but some gags were just too cringey for their own good imo... which is a shame bc i adore every single one of the characters! (except kyubi. i felt validated when you said you didn't like him either lmao. his yokai companion deserves better, i love her too!) specially matarou and goromi. THE OST IS ALSO STUPID GOOD, LIKE??? i have been a yokai watch fan for the longest time but i only found out about this bc nayutan seijin made the openings I SAW NAYU AND LOST IT, and i lost it even more when she played a very active role, like, she's based on this nayutan seijin character called andromedako who's always in these cutesy space themed love songs, when one of her first appereances was talking about sending the protags to hell i was like "!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!?!?!??" she's a cool character though! i love her and SPECIALLY elzemekia!!! i feel like she was made for me specifically. i feel her backstory was a bit unnecessary though... it's a shame that my actual fav character (lime from y high school) is anime only and there's absolutely next to no chance of this side of ykw to come back, but ah well (if you recognize me from tumblr as that one person who made that long ass theory about jinpei suffering from comphet no you didn'ttt...)

''Boku no Yo-kai Academia'' is a weird spin the franchise, i can't see it as being particularly good, i think the lack of Yo-kai stuff over Super Hero and alien stuff was a bit jarring, but i can appreciate some things about it, like new watches and there jingles, some of the designs are really good, the very catchy songs and i'm a sucker for transformation sequences that they have plenty

One thing I appreciate about this game is how gorgeous the school grounds and environments are. Pokemon Brillianf Diamond and Shining Pearl with its own chibi artstyle came out around the same time but it looks so awful compared to Y-School. Jinpei reminds me alot of Sheen from Jimmy Neutron with his humor. Gameplay-wise, it feels alot shallower compared to Busters. With Busters, you can balance a team with a Fighter, Tank, Ranger and Healer. This game felt like your only option was to play Fighter so you have none of the other roles to help defensively or offensively.

I've loved this series from start to finish. I'll always be grateful you stuck with it even though there were break periods as I enjoyed watching it reach its conclusion. If you'd ever be interested in doing a Sangukoshi video, I'm sure there'd be a demand for it (after all, I'd love that!), but if not, it's all good, as I'm just happy you covered the breadth of the mainline series. I'm one of the few YKW fans who's furious with Holy Horror Mansion, as an underdeveloped and bizarre 'spiritual successor' (but not really) to YKW. It's weird they haven't even finalised their "concept dances" for the game yet, whatever TF that means. it's years off and frankly I think the fanbase for it will lose hype by the time it releases. From my POV, this means YKW is truly dead, a great serues that lost its way after the 3rd major entry, and all its rebrands just took it away from the original golden concept. Now all we have is 'Holy Horror Mansion', and I for one will be skipping it. Thankfully, we still have all our game copies, digital emulation, and your fantastic series to remember the IP by. Thank you YKW, and thank you Chrominize, for the years of fun.

I'm glad you enjoyed watching all the videos! If Sangokushi ever gets a complete English patch, I'll probably make a video on it. I'm currently mixed on Holy Horror Mansion myself. That initial teaser trailer was a concept video, so I don't think it's worth being too angry or too excited about it yet. Though I will say they definitely announced it too soon.

​@Chrominize I think I remember a youtuber saying that they didn't add the stuff from season 2 because they would have to make the new map, Y Academy High similar to the Y Academy. I couldn't find that specific video now cause it had already been 3 years since then. But it would of been cool to get Lime, Suguru, Oujiro and Queen Lana as well as the Majin Heroes in the game as the High School Update I guess. Especially Queen Lana.

I don’t really like y academy all that much because of the characters being reincarnated from yo-Kai in the main series (except the onion kid I guess) all I can see is Jibanyan, komasan, etc and their personalities are just not appealing to me. I do like the hero gimmick though along with some of the onriyo designs and personalities

Oh yeah there's a yokai watch 5, but instead it is not produced by level 5 but instead ILCA, and it has released worldwide rather than having a release 2 years later, and there's no whisper in the game, cause this took place in a seperate setting where the yokai world is a new world, and various new yokai, and also some wild versions of existing yokai such as a wild buhu and there's a menacing dark army. And there's an anime with its animation produced by upstairs animation(the same company who did Koati), and follows the plot of the game with some other changes, and it breaks the rules of what the original version and it's english dub of the original anime have. It's about no censors, and various deaths of yo-kai
