Interesting,, nostalgic video. I lived in Chojamachi-4choome beteen Showa 27 nen and 31 nen. In front of our Apt, Bldg run a streetcar from Noge area to Yamamoto-choo. across the street was the area which used to be many Kamaboko-heisha. There were many movie theaters nearby. Tooei, Picadelli, Shoochiku, Nikkatsu, Daiei, Shin-Toohoo, Rearuto, etc, etc, etc. Koonza and Hinode-gekijoo were nearby Hinode Station. Going toward Sakuragi-choo were McCarther-gekijoo na Kokusai next to each other and on Bashamichi was Yokohoo. There was Nozawaya next to Matsuya across from Yuurin-doo. We used to have lunch at 7th Flr rest. of Nozawaya. Ramen there was 40-yen. Other restaurants, like Noge-shokudoo was 35-yen. Now over 10 times more. Isezaki Police Station was right across from where we lived on the other side of Ooka(?)-gawa, which is now Washington Hotel and Isezaki-Choojamachi Station. After we moved from Honmoku-motomachi, I used to walk to Makado-shoo for 1 year or so, to save cost of Teiki which was 300-yen per mo. Anpan Jampan, Kuriman, etc. were 10 yen.

In 1952, there was still a US military barracks. There used to be a lot of movie theaters, but now there are only two. Is it 40 yen for a cup of ramen? It's more than 10 times that now. There is no Washington Hotel now. It changed to another hotel last year.

No more W. Hotel at Chooja-mah !!! I assume W. Hotel near Sakuragichoo Station is still there...??? We held Makado-shoo's Doosoo-kai at both places, twice at the latter. In 1956, I saw Hadakano Taishoo, Yamashita Kiyoshi doing a drawing at 2nd Flr. of Yuurin-doo. I saw the movie, too, in L.A. , starred by Kobayashi Keiju as Yamashita. That was a funny movie. @@namiki-michio
