One of the most underrated bands in history. Just as great as Motley Crue or any of the bands from their era. Criminally underrated. They were the first metal band I ever saw live in 1987 when I was 12. It was a small show at a stage set up next to some restaurant with only like 2k people there. Fun fact, Guns N Roses opened the show, when hardly anyone knew who they were, and got booed off stage after 3 songs because Axl was drunk. Ace Frehley went on and then Y&T. Will always love Y&T

Criminally under rated band. First time I even heard of Y&T was when I saw them live. They opened for Frehleys Comet when Ace brought his solo act to my city. I grew up worshipping Ace and was so excited to see him live. It was a sad teenager who left the show that night after witnessing his hero get absolutely blown off the stage by Y&T. Have loved them since.

True story…..I grew up in Santa Rosa CA. As a little kid from 5 years old my cousin and I discovered many rock albums. I was lucky to grow up in a time and place (80s Bay Area) that was magic for music. When I heard the Black Tiger album I was hooked. So one day while still in Jr High in early 1986 , my friend found out Y and T we’re doing a show at a little club called the Cotati Caberet. It was a pretty small venue. I begged my dad to take us and it worked. This was the original line up with the original drummer. Maybe one of his last shows. There literally were only 30 or 40 people in the whole damn place. Weeknight. Small town. That band melted faces and still to this day was one of the best shows I ever saw. I’ve now seen everybody. I’ve toured the world in my own band. That group in their prime was as good as any I have ever witnessed. And show me a guy that could sing and play lead and write songs as good. Hendrix. Name another -I’ll wait. RIP the rest of the original line up I saw that night. The energy is still in my veins. That performance…..Influenced me massively.

I get what you’re saying, but just know that most Y&T fans don’t like that title. To most it implies that they’re just better than most perceived them to be.
