One of the most adorable things ever. Also a very impressive showcase for complex character animation. Notice how the shoes sometimes act as separate characters, sometimes as a pair, and sometimesas the ghost girl's feet, constantly shifting roles. It's freaking mesmerizing.

@@skurafn8805 proper 2D animation workflow is done not head-on but pose-to-pose. which means they don't draw frame 1 then frame 2 then frame 3. instead, frames are divided into 3 categories: keyframes, breakdowns and inbetweens. keyframes marks all the distinguishable poses at their most well-defined. breakdowns marks how one pose is supposed to get to the other, and inbetweens are breakdowns of breakdowns which conveys no further information but makes the animation smoother. this was the system used pretty much since commercial animation became a thing. it makes syncing animation with audio incredibly easy. just note when the sound cue lands, work out which frame that translate to, make that the keyframe and work the rest out from there. the most it took was middle school level math. if sycing animation with audio really was as hard as the comment suggests waves of animators would be jumping off of buildings everyday to escape having to animate talking characters. with modern software, animators can actually just import the sound file into their software, which would provide them with a frequency chart and real time-scrubbing, and they could literally just scrub and find where the sound cue is and avoid what little math there was in that process. so yeah, was trivial to begin with, and even easier with software.

yea its a mixture of western and eastern media the girl being anime and the background from Japan and the shoes and the song is most likely from America.
This is a context commentary because there's *serious misinformation around this video.* This is *NOT* a tribute to a dead daughter at all. DeepL translation of the description: "I participated in FRENZ2013! The picture quality is a bit degraded and the frames are a bit skipped.... I was so impressed by "Singin' in the Rain" that I had been working on this idea for about two and a half years. I'm glad I was able to give it shape. It's a great movie, so if you haven't seen it, please do!" This video is a tribute both a tribute to the movie Singing in the Rain and Gene Kelly, who passed away in 1996, who was recognized for being one of the best Tap dancers there is (hence the magical tap dancing shoes featured in the video). If you can see in the background, there's a lot of references to this, and the song "Moses" is from a scene from the same movie! Please stop spreading misinformation that this is a tribute for a dead daughter of something of the sort. Even in 02:22 you can see a picture of the ghost featured in the video sitting next to Gene Kelly.

Why would it matter to anyone if people were here for the anime aspect in the first place? This just proves how anime can be used as, and is, an art form. People need to stop being ignorant and give up those wrong negative stigmas and stereotypes that plagues the genre in America. Anime is simply Japanese animation and is a style that is utilized for everything from fine art, children's stories, young adult tv shows, blockbuster masterpieces and yes, sometimes even porn... just like any other art form out there.
