So when Zaraki limited himself, he wasn’t able to hear his sword’s words. Its mentioned by Zangetsu during Ichigo’s fight with Kenpachi that his sword was crying out for its master to hear. Oh and she wasn’t giving him a zanpakuto. Her letting go of the sword was to symbolize her passing on the official Kenpachi title to him.

The bankai doesn't corrode anything. That was all a metaphore of zarakai shedding his weak self back into what he was before he fought unohana the first time. Her bankai is the manipulation of blood for close and long range attacks as well as healing herself based on the damage inflicted on her opponent. Or at least that's the widely accepted explanation of the Fandom as its still not exactly explained.

(she is reincarnating him, not he himself, but same difference)

The whole bit with seeing half of his skeleton and all of Unohana's is something I think is more symbolic then literal. To take Kenpachi's line of being asleep, the skeleton represents the true self/acting in line with your true self. Kenpachi only showed half as he was "waking up," but Unohana was fully awake, she was showing her true self in its entirety.

It's not a symbolic thing, unohana power It's made of the same substance that the hell blood pool is made of, the blood literally destroys the body by healing over the limits. every time she gets a wound automatically it get cured, in the anime they couldn't made 100s of times the destruction and reconstruction of their bodies and the 100s of times kenpachi dies and returns to life, so the did once and left to the imagination the countless times that happened in a space with no limits and no time (muken the lowest level of the prison under the 1st barrack, were aizen is, it's basically a limbo were time is frozen and the perception Is infinite even if outside it's only been a little bit)

Love this one. The confusion many people have over Zaraki's zanpakuto is actually simpler than you think: He stole an asauchi (training sword) from a dead shinigami then used that asauchi to fight, he unknowingly did exactly what every shinigami must do before actually becoming a shinigami: spend every single minute with their asauchi to their side to imprint their reiatsu on it and so create their own, unique zanpakuto. The problem is that since he didn't know about that he never tried comunicating with it, after he learned about it he deemed it to be for "weaklings" so never bothered to learn how to do it. More answers on this will come on the next season so i'll stop now to avoid spoiling you the story! EDIT: fun fact: Oetsu's countdown from 10 to 1 when saying his name is a word play since his name is Nimaiya and the "Ni" part means number 1.

The swords themselves are Zanpakuto. They are blades infused with a part of the Soul Reaper's soul over time, and remain in a sealed state (basic Uchigatana/Tachi usually), and calling out its name releases some of the Zanpakuto's true power, which is Shikai. Calling out Bankai and the full name of the Zanpakuto releases its full power. Extremely basic explanation, but this is usually the case for each Zanpakuto.

Alright, so Unohana’s bankai has always been up to interpretation by the fans, and after the anime showed it in a better light, here’s my interpretation: The red liquid that looks like blood actually isn’t blood, or at least not entirely (perhaps it’s mixed with her blood and/or the blood of all her previous victims), but is actually the healing “stomach acid” from the creature inside her sword that we saw in the Soul Society arc. Even after the bankai is activated, it appears as though they’re fighting inside a giant stomach. What I think her bankai does essentially is to keep both her and her opponent(s) alive the whole time it’s active, on top of also giving her a power boost which would be expected from a bankai. Unohana most likely lost because she let the bankai deactivate so the fight could end, even though it theoretically could have gone on forever (they actually fought for about 3 days in Muken, which wasn’t made clear in the anime). As for the two of them melting, it is most likely at the VERY least metaphorical. However, if it is also literal at the same time, it could just be an aspect of the bankai’s offensive capabilities seeing as though the liquid is a kind of “acid” if my theory is correct, or it’s like Tenjiro’s healing springs where too much healing damages a person’s body.

Tenjjro 2nd pool is made of hell blood, which has the same effect as unohana bankai, heal by replacing the blood with a one with a extreme high level of reiatstu inside, the downside is that it's extreme to the level that the body gets destroyed if not strong enough to keep up with the healing. Minazuki does the same thing, when cut or cutting someone it destroys and cures it back in a endless cycle so that unohana can fight forever as she seeks and the reason why she mastered kaido.

The Kenpachi Death Battle is pure insanity. The animation alone was just peak, but the voice acting from both the VAs for Unohana and Zaraki were hitting it + the usage of the soundtrack. First, what she relinquished was the true title of Kenpachi to Zaraki. She held on to the title because she was nurturing him to truly become a Kenpachi. That's why she said she relinquished all to him. As for the zanpakuto, remember that White was always scolding Ichigo because he always turned him away despite White ALWAYS calling him partner. It’s crazy when you think about it. Zaraki was stronger than Unohana so many years ago and only lost because of the nerf. He deserved the title but didn’t earn it. Unohana recognized this. So in a sense, all the Kenpachi since then were technically not legit because Zaraki should have taken it from Unohana. There are a couple crazy powerful Kenpachi in the lineup, but I imagine several of them would have died to full powered Zaraki when they challenged him.

I just think her shikai heals you (in its stomach) and her bankai melts you. She was just healing Zaraki and herself until he broke the shackles.

​​@@DJKuroh it's basically confirmed not acid anymore. People thought that because of the apparent melting of the flesh from their bodies as well as zaraki saying "I'm melting". As well as the little sound effect text in the manga. Now with all the extra things we get with the anime hardly anyone thinks it's acid anymore. God when this episode came out the new theories were flying. I had a pretty good one but I can't really remember it anymore. She obviously has control over blood as we see the blood cling to her blade and she is able to use it for long range attacks. But I also think it has a life leech as well as topical healing effects. She heals herself when she cuts the opponent and she can either heal herself or her opponent with it by getting it on the body hence why we don't see her manually using kaido to heal herself like we did right before using bankai. It's also another theory that the blood that rains down is similar to a domain expansion from Jujutsu Kaisen and the area becomes the inside of the giant manta ray thing from her shikai as being inside of that thing can heal people. Also since she trained under the squad zero guy (can't remember his name ATM) it's also been said her powers are similar to his healing pools. The white pool (shikai) and the red pool (bankai). People say that this makes no sense cause her zanpakuto would have had the abilities from the start and they can't change. I say why not? She's over 1000 years old and has a very deep connection with her zanpakuto spirit. Her own personality changed from yachiru (cold blooded killer) to retsu (calm and loving healer) so why wouldn't her zanpakutos over time? I feel like there were a few other points but like I said I can't remember it all as this was 5 months ago.

a zanpakuto is a sword. an empty sword (zanpakuto) is called asaushi. a sword which name is known can go to the first release which is called shikai stage. a sword which is pushed to his limits and went to the second release is called the bankai stage.

Ichigo received Rukia's power 1st episode. When it went into him, they magnified and mixed with his other powers so the zunkpato represented that. The sword was Rukia's. He had his own sword AFTER Byakuya broke his soul chain and the connection to Rukia's power.

The only thing I don’t get is if no soul reaper has ever manifested there own zanpakto how could ichigo have one during urharahs training. Is It because he was born with soul reaper powers and because usually soul reapers have to be a regular soul first and then become a soul reaper? Because in renji and rukias backstory a soul becomes a soul reaper through development in training. Old man Quincy said ichigo already had soul reaper powers because he was born with them. Maybe that’s why he had manifested a zanpakto.

Yea. Basically. His other blood lines seem to compensate him as well. Like when he showed Byakuya his Bankai. Byakuya didnt view it as a normal Bankai. So I view his whole Zanpakto thing was unconventional at this point. I don’t fully understand it but i see the puzzle pieces

It's also funny looking back how Ichigos Zanpakuto was 1. Always in Shikai 2. Looked really suspicious, compared to others, in both forms (Shikai, Bankai) 3. Ichigo never had any Zanpakuto abilitys, not in Shikai nor in Bankai. And yet i never really doubted his Zanpakuto being fake or maybe not being a real Zanpakuto

Ichigo has never had an asauchi, and so he has never had an actual zanpakuto. For the entire show so far, his sword has been closer to Yhwach's sword than a zanpakuto; it's just condensed reishi that is shaped into a physical sword, without the structure provided by an asauchi that must be imprinted upon. Also, if you think back Ichigo's most lethal form is where his sword becomes pure energy (his Mugetsu form), in much the same way Yhwach's most powerful sword is the glowing energy blade he used to kill Yamamoto.

Love the rough voice from mistress Unohana, it's almost like something out of the grave. Also many people still think her Bankai is supposed to be acid but after the anime I don't think so. A Bankai is the representation of the deepest part of one's soul, It wouldn't make sense for someone who loves fighting so much that she literally learned eight thousand sword styles to have a Bankai that is just an insta-kill lmao. The Blood Arts on the other hand allow her to showcase her immense versatility and power.

So in this fight or we call them the Kenpachi ritual, Unohana legitimized Zaraki's position as the next Kenpachi, the previous Kenpachis from 2 to 10, although didn't get the names through the proper ritual since Unohana is not yet dead when they took the position, they are also hella strong. I don't know if they will show them on the following cours for tybw, but man two of them have op zanpakutous. Spoilers below: My favorite zanpakutou from the Kenpachis is the 8th Kepnachi's one, Azashiro Soya, he's there in Muken along with Aizen imprisoned lol

Tbh I'm the one of those who see Unohana's Death as a waste before, but the more I see it the more I understand why is it necessary. Zaraki is indeed Soul Society's wild card and also on how Haxed Quincie powers are now, I now think Unohana's Zanpakuto is not ideal on fighting them.

Kenpachi wasn't going to become squad captain he's the strongest fighter but not the best leader overall kyoraku was the most fit since he's been around the longest, he's also the strong asf as well hence why he fought against starrk......don't let the kenpachi title fool you or else unohana would have been head captain and not Yamamoto.

The people who got upset of unohanas death what they don't understand is unohana is strong like probably the strongest next after yamamoto and kenpachi was fighting with her for 3 days straight. Unohana had to use her everything (bankai) to unlock kenpachi true potential and kenpachi did it in base power no shikai or bankai

I wont go to spoiler territory but there is no explanation for it ( maybe in the Cant Fear Your Own World light novels IDK ) anyway Ichigo just does things xdd

If you ever try Acid it feels like your skin is falling off, Euphoria. Thats how Kenpachi feels. I was on Acid & saw this fight in the manga. In the Manga he says euphoria why he turns to bone cus thats how good it feels. It was then i realize the creator of Bleach had to be on Acid to understand that
