First episode the message was hidden in a plain Newspaper, this episode it was just a series of numbers on a piece of paper. Both would be utterly meaningless if any rando got hold of it without knowing the Cypher, that's why it's very commonly employed in espionage to avoid information leeks.

To be fair, the relationship they really needed to cement early was between Twilight and Yor. Because, let's be honest, Yor falling utterly in love with Anya is an absolute given. There is no way in hell that sweet cinnamon roll death machine wouldn't love the esper gremlin. The real trick was to establish the chemistry between mama and papa, and they did it damn well.

When Yor kicked that criminal away, the way they directed the scene with Loid's reaction was different from the manga. Loid was dumbfounded but then he started smiling and laughing on the spot, there was no delayed pause. Loid genuinely doesn't suspect Yor because he's already head over heels 🥰

Keep in mind that this show takes place around early to mid cold war in the equivalent of east berlin, so the society's standards are different than nowadays. As Yor's brother Yuri said on the phone, she is very gullible. To my knowledge from the manga she is not a sleeper agent, she just goes into "killing mode/time to kill mode".

Not gonna lie, this show is 100% 🔥 🔥 🔥won’t lie though, you’re all wrong with the assessment of their world and tech. A lot of what’s on the show has been around since the fifties to sixties, even more so in the seventies. The fact he drove a Volkswagen bus puts this as early as the late sixties. The guns used were all based on firearms that were already available, just look up the M1911 as a point of reference since that design was American made going as far back as the early 1900’s. The silenced pistol looked very much like a Makarov style pistol the Soviets were using all throughout that period of late fifties to their fall in the nineties. As for gps being “now”, the system is a very old tech (70’s if I remember right) that’s been expanded upon to be as advanced as it is today for the average civilian consumer through needs satellites being sent up and more advanced tech to use it more reliably as time went on. If that’s a bit much to believe, which to be fair it is considering the time period and satellite accuracy from back then (since gps was accurate to within 100 yards in the early nineties to 35ft in the mid 2000’s) there were devices that would be pinging a signal constantly and a separate device would pick up on the signal if you got close enough to detect it when combing an area for stolen goods. A lot of tech today has been at least made years or even decades before it hit the mass market, and back in the day they were all mostly made to be used for government use. A lot of spy stuff from then is repurposed stuff we buy daily now. And why no one should trust their devices isn’t listening in on them regardless of a company’s stance on legal issues and data collecting of private details.

Erm... they already have colour-TV which only became common in the 60th if not later. And they have private cars aplenty and electric trams. And they are spies and such, who would have access to the very latest and prototype technologies. Not that they'd need bleeding edge tech for a simple radio transmitter to work as a tracker. Just a short-range signal is enough to track. Considering how the US put small radio transmitters into their WW2 VT-fuze shells, such a small transmitter should not be an issue. I think this level of technology would work in our real world too... except the telepathy experiments perhaps.

8:06 it’s kinda like spitting in the drink before serving the word written might be boogers but the translation of the verbal word may be closer to mucus/spit. The era is suppose to be between east and West Berlin so tension of the Cold War. During ww1-2 the use of spy’s became incredibly necessary and complex the first British spy’s/responders would have been mostly housewives usually farmwives who would have enough time to board up the windows in the country side and send telegrams to officials of bombing sites (to give a warning of directionality of impacts/potential aviation attacks. With the early warnings the city’s that were in the direct pathway of the targeting zone strikes would turn off the city power/give air raid warnings signaling a blackout/bunkers. This resulted in enemy pilots not being able to know exactly were city’s would be located unless they dipped below cloud level. And at nighttime visibility would be almost impossible by eye without making guesses.) With later developments in the war you have people who are plain clothes officers/secret police and also have to worry about gossip/individuals who are friends/flag the secret police. This is a response to not only the farm-wives joining the force basically opening the doors to anyone in a ‘see something say something’ manner. That and international travel/mass exodus of fleeing individuals resulted in a mix of actually people escaping and enemy officials escaping(so many are in Argentina) along with terrorist attacks and threats/transferring of documents or spreading word of different extremist groups (traveling with the guise of fleeing but going in reality for infiltration and creating new networks of (naz!/communism-soviet union/etc) to get new recruits/overtake city’s or infliltrait military connections.) In many cases housewives who threw parties and were affluent were already in some way married or connected to government officials/governmental business. So gathering intel at such events was common but even just neighborhood gossip could be enough to convict someone of a crime any shady activity, as your coworkers/neighbors/church members could all be secret-police. Anyone could be reported to police or secret police and the individuals in question would be dragged away and not seen again. Very hush-hush and very quick it was an exceptionally dangerous era in these spy countries.

Women are the ones who are supremely overpowered in that world. Not in fighting really but it's definitely a matriarchy society. I wouldn't say the country is bad per se. Disappearing women and other suspicious people of course is bad but taking into account the story is set in the cold war, tensions between west and east germany, it's understandable but still very wrong
