If I was Muzan Jackson, I would’ve spared the lower ranks. Tanjiro would have got killed by lower moon 5 if it wasn’t for Giyuu. I think the important part of the coin scene was Tanjiro saying he would have just kept on flipping it until he got the result he wanted. It both acknowledges Kanao's use of the coin, but it is also shows the user has their own desires, which Kanao denies she has.
