It really gets me in the feels how when Joker pushes Harley out, everything just flashes before her eyes and she doesnt really do anything. She just curls up and accepts it and allowed him to do it again. And it also hits me in the feels with the sympathetic tone of Batman's words of "somethings never change quinn", and it being about how Joker (and abusive partners like him) dont change.

I think Batman's quote was more about how Harley always crawls back to Joker despite how abusive he is. Could be both.

8:05 The point was to give Harley everything she wanted from him, the perfect evening, just to take it away from her because it would hurt her even more. The Joker likes to play mind games like this. In one story he kidnapped a child, forcing Batman to go all around the city, fighting through hordes of goons and getting out of traps that the Joker had set for him. Batman was sure the Joker had killed the girl by the time he finally caught up to him, but when he did catch up and defeat the Joker he found her alive and completely unharmed. Befuddled by this, the Batman asked the Joker what the point was. Why would he go through the trouble of kidnapping her, waste an army of henchmen and resources if he was just going to keep the girl locked away safely. The Joker's answer was that he did it specifically for one reason, to give Batman hope. From now on, whenever the Joker would kidnap someone, Batman would always have a teensy sliver of hope at the back of his mind that they would be unharmed, which meant that it would hurt him even more when they ended up dead.
