Radar is a system that uses a transmitter and receiver to detect and track things. Outie Irving is tracking severed employees and trying to transmit the idea of the testing room elevator to his innie, who I think he's plying into becoming a better receiver by withholding sleep.

14:16 i interpret more as a union-busting strategy. they can't interact on the way in and out not so it doesn't trigger their memory, but so that they don't learn who their co-workers are. being able to radicalize and organize a group of severed employees on the outside to cooperate with their innies could be totally devastating for lumon. they can interact on the outside, but they can't know they're all severed and in the same cohort i think.

Another major issue with this job is that it would be nearly impossible to apply for other jobs, you can't explain what you did on a resume, you can't get letters of recommendation from people you worked with. It's just a big blank for however many years of your life.

For now we can see that it has pitfalls and solution and also only a few people get it done. They might be working on creating a better and advanced version that they can roll out more universally.
