The irony about Jet's death is that despite all his mistrust and hatred towards the Fire Nation and their conquest and destruction of the Earth Kingdom, it was an official of the Earth Kingdom government, and an earthbender, who brought him down. He tried being good, he tried doing things the right and lawful way, he thought he was helping people by warning them, in the end he was right in his assumptions, and it was his own nation that put him down for it.

@@EpicDragon357 She schooled that "old lady" until said "old lady" pulled out a unique ability Katara had never encountered before, one which (as is seen in LoK) is capable of taking anyone out except a fully-realized Avatar *_in the Avatar State._* And Katara 100% no-sold the hell out of it because she was just that good. Katara is easily one of the most powerful and skilled waterbenders, if not THE most powerful and skilled waterbender, in the world. Aang only beats her in power because he's got the Avatar State backing him up, so it's not a fair comparison. And even then, she's a much better waterbender than he is. And once Aang goes into the Avatar State, he's under the control of the Avatar Spirit, who has all the power and skill of ALL of the past Avatars. That's thousands of people who had ALL mastered all four forms of bending over dozens of thousands of years. There's no way I'll believe they're not amongst the best benders in the world, and they're not even adults yet. That's impressive as hell.

Lycanthromancer I know they’re one of the best later on but for the time period rn (in this episode) they’re one or two steps away from becoming masters of their craft (barring toph). I’m not denying that katara isn’t op but for right now she would get her ass whopped by that granny if they were to face during this time period. Btw I wouldn’t consider LoK to be a standard for anything considering korra’s avatar state (which is supposed to be the accumulation of every avatar’s knowledge before her thrown into one body), if her avatar state can be so easily dealt with then it’s safe to say that the power levels in that show is off. Even if we take out avatar states in this, the fact that basically so much earth bender can bend metal and that so much fire benders can produce and redirect lightning is already a flag

The Zuko/Iroh scene always gives me chills, most especially because of Iroh actually yelling at Zuko. It's serious when Iroh's yelling at you like that. Despite always being patient with Zuko, he had enough now. I love that even Iroh has a point where he's driven to frustration, and not only is it understandable, but it's also coming from a place of love as well. Because Iroh cares for Zuko, he just wants the best for him. Zuko risking his life and going down this path forced on him by his father is just not good for him. The Gaang and the Freedom Fighters teaming up together was so awesome. They work so well together! There were so many hints honestly pointing to Jet dying. The whole life flashing before your eyes thing, the slow mo of the attack, Long Feng's comment of his "demise", how Smellerbee and Longshot were acting, and what Toph said about him lying about being okay. The implications were there, but because this is Nickelodeon we're talking about here, they didn't want the show to make it explicit that they killed a teenage kid onscreen. Overall, poor Jet. Despite what he has done in the past, I believe he truly redeemed himself in the end here. Too bad it came at a high cost. Aang and Appa's reunion was just everything! Also, just so you know, "Laogai" (short for Láodòng Gǎizào) in Chinese means "reform through labor". In short, it's a slogan to refer to labor camps, or labor-camp-style "re-education" in China.

Jet's death is depicted as unclear is a reference to Internet fan discussions over the unclear nature of Jet's fate in this episode, but later confirmed during the San Diego Comic-Co This is the second episode in which Jet and Aang battle, the first being "Jet" when Aang fought Jet to get his glider back. When Zuko attempts to capture Appa, Iroh interrupts him and says, "This is exactly what happened when you captured the Avatar at the North Pole! You had him, and then you had nowhere to go!" Later Iroh states, "If his friends hadn't found you, you would have frozen to death!" Both are referring to the events of "The Siege of the North, Part 2". The marks resulting from Appa biting Long Feng in this episode serve as evidence in the episode "The Earth King" to prove to Earth King Kuei that Long Feng lied about never seeing a sky bison before. This is the last time Zuko is seen as the Blue Spirit, as he throws the mask into Lake Laogai. This is the first time Zuko speaks while disguised as the Blue Spirit. This is the only episode in which Longshot speaks. Toph's ability to tell when someone is lying is introduced. Lake Laogai" won the Primetime Emmy Award for Individual Achievement Award. The two questions Uncle Iroh asks Zuko to ask himself, "Who are you" and "What do you want" are prominent philosophical questions from the sci-fi series Babylon 5 designed to represent order and chaos respectively. The basic plot of this episode is similar to X-Men 2. There was a government conspiracy, the Dai Li's leader is secretly controlling the Earth Kingdom, that both the "good guys", Team Avatar, and "bad guys", Freedom Fighters, agreed was bad, and thus teamed up to infiltrate a secret government base hidden under Lake Laogai, which they found the location of by probing a brainwashed friend's mind. One of the characters, Jet, dies, and the bad guys, Iroh and Zuko, escape. When Sokka tries to convince Katara to kiss Jet to reinstate his memory, Aang expresses apparent jealousy, stating it is a bad idea. This is the only episode in which Uncle Iroh reprimands Zuko. While trying to regain his memory, Jet has a flashback to his childhood in which it is revealed that the Rough Rhinos were responsible for the destruction of his hometown and the murder of his parents.

Iroh being a father. That’s what God wants, us to think for ourselves instead our parents/society imposing their will on us.

That’s why this episode is so great, beside the tale of Ba Sing Se, that seeing what is going on really reviled what they found out. And even Uncle Iroh, he definitely gave Zuko the choice that needed of what is at heart, then at stake.

crazy that zuko found appa the exact same day he realised he was missing when everyone else has spent ages to get to this point. bro a professional at tracking people down, imagine how much shit they couldve got done if he joined them earlier

So did Jet die? Yes, look where Katara's healing glow was, his rib case and a crushed rib cage is impossible to recover from. Plus when the Freedom fighters re-appeared in the in-canon comic book series 'The Promise" Jet isn't with them, the leadership role having been taken over by Smellerbee.

Y'all reaction to Appa throwing the dude across the lake like a skipping rock LOL amazing, loving these videos, keep it up 👍
@cgoose5004 жыл бұрын
1:45 There wasn't a random trapdoor there, he earthbended the ground. Appa either fell into a tunnel made for catching him, some kind of sewer, or an existing secret tunnel for Dai Lee agents to get around the city with. It's not like the guy just randomly found Appa and dropped him down. He lured Appa to him, there had to have been something down there he knew he could use. Is the past tense of bending bended or bent?

Fun fact : the mask zuko used actually belonged to his mother she used to play in a theatre and kept her masks as a reminder of her past since she was forced to marry firelord ozai and actually was in love with someone else

The scene of long shot drawing his bow and pointing it towards the door was actually supposed to be him pointing it at Jet to mercy kill him. But Nickelodeon thought it was too dark

Oh btw, I believe in this episode iroh's voice actor switched which is why his voice might sound a little more pitchy during his yelling, the old voice actor for iroh passed away and tale's of iroh was a tribute to him, may he rest in peace
@ilyMiickeyBee4 жыл бұрын
I thought the voice actor didn't change until Season 3?
@ilyMiickeyBee4 жыл бұрын
Actually, yeah. The episode was dedicated to Mako but he already recorded all of Season 2. They changed the voice actor in Season 3.
@colinhamilton30334 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure Mako recorded pretty much all of season 2 before he passed. There are a few lines here and there that they had to record later with a different actor, but most of it is still Mako through the end of the season.

Iroh said "Time for a reality check that's LONG overdue" - It's the only time he's raised his voice with Zuko, and it happened because he couldn't stand by and watch Zuko ruin his own life anymore

I think realizing/remembering that Iroh lost his own son, and Zuko almost freezing to death as well, at the north pole, with Iroh thinking of Zuko like his own son, that whole speech really hits me different. Did Iroh have a similar argument with his own son, begging him not to go into danger, or is it more likely that Iroh wishes he'd had that discussion, or wish that he could have had it? It just strikes me as a real hitter and, though I think it would have ruined the moment, how easily could Iroh have slipped and called Zuko, Lu Ten instead?
