I got a bit emotional when I saw Senku's father died. He tried his best so that his son gets the very thing he will need to revive humanity. Byakuya is such a chad, the best father without a doubt 🥺

About Senku's bio dad, it's not relevant to the story and doesn't get brought back ever again. General consensus among the community is that they were meant to be bio related but the editorial mandate changed it to be adopted so there wouldn't be any weirdness in shipping Senku with Kohaku due to them technically being "relatives". Also this isn't the final arc, series is far from being over. With this episode we're exactly at half point of chapters adapted.

​@@eco5322 Yakov and Dalia the two doctors definitely had kids (shown in season 1). Shamil and Connie also had kids (said in season 1). And we know that some of the villagers have the DNA of Lillian like Ruri and Kohaku with the blonde hair. If there are only 6 astronauts, and Lillian had kids, then Byakuya is the only choice to make these happen. Jasper, the referee during the Grand Bout Tournament looks like Byakuya

Not to mention, in the follow-up arc, a certain elegant Doctor is introduced who could very well be the real biological father, however, neither one of them investigates any further on that possibility in the manga. Once this elegant scientist is revealed, I hope that the anime does what the manga did not and connect the dots. We shall see.

And the funny part is assuming this is true, then just simply don't ship Kohaku and Senku together. Senku's not exactly interested in romance, so he could just have a sibling/cousin type relationship with Kohaku and then all would be good. But the story was definitely looking like it was setting up for Senku's parents being a big plot point. The only advantage I'd see in not having Byakuya be related to Senku could be to show how you don't have to be blood related in order to love someone.

To sum up what the platinum is doing in this reaction: 1. The platinum is acting as a catalyst for the reaction, so it isn't used up to make the nitric acid (that said, a certain amount IS required in order for certain interactions to occur). 2. it's being used with another catalyst to cause ammonia + O2 (whilst heated) to make nitrogen monoxide and water vapor. at that point, the platinum has served it's purpose, but the nitrogen monoxide reacts with O2 again to become NO2, then the water to form a diluted nitric acid. There's a bit more left, but that is basically how they have a near-indefinite amount of nitric acid to use

While not confirmed it’s likely due to the resemblances of certain characters that Byakuya had biological kids with Lillian and yet in his last moments his thoughts were of his adopted son and he lived his life believing Senku would make it. @@Ashaira I'm not familiar with this specific reaction in the show, but platinum for example can temporarily bind molecules during a reaction, which helps facilitate it (lowering the energy needed for the reaction). There are some other catalysts actually end up changing forms during the reaction. So for example, manganese dioxide changes into manganese ion and manganese hydroxide during a reaction, but at the end of the reaction, turns back into manganese dioxide. You can actually prove this by measuring the amount of catalyst before and after a reaction and they should be pretty much identical. The only real reason they might get used up is if you accidentally added something that reacts with it, or due to some human error.

11:20 It can't be the last arc because they mentioned they need to get to America to find the source of the mass petrification that crumbled humanity. There's no point saving everyone if they haven't stopped Why-man's petrifying ability, it will just happen again. They are only stopping by on treasure island to get platinum and diamond etc... So that they can make nitric acid (and other important things). Stealing Kirisame's petrification beam is also a useful device in learning about what petrification is as well as an OP healing tool The next arc when they cross the Pacific to get to the US is soooooo crrrrazzzyyy, there is a lot of story left. I can't wait for everyone to experience it!

I’m not saying for sure one way or the other, but it doesn’t have to be important to the plot that Senku wasn’t biologically Byakuya’s. Japan has some of its own weird hangups about what a family is supposed to look like, just like in our country.
