@@YachtBuoyeven though this boat is flawed? There's not enough weight at the bow end. If the superstructure had been further forward, the boat would be better balanced.. Maybe not as fast, seeing it pass bigger merchant vessels, it wasn't doing 20 knots, and in those seas, on or close to it's limit. A boat that goes over waves and then crashes, is not efficient.

I watched many of the Thunderchild video's by Safehaven. Their boats are unmatched. I will need to go back to some of those videos but this Cat seems a tad more bouncy than what I remember Thunderchild. It doesn't take as much water over the bow either. Very impressive!

That was brutal and exhilarating. What an incredible vessel. As a former drone pilot. I take my hat off to the guy flying it in those conditions. Looked like a Mavic. Great DJI drone. I had a Phantom four pro plus and an Inspire pro. Both incredible drones. Not as good as that vessel though. 🙂👍

@cageordie7 күн бұрын
That drone is probably a DJI Air 3, Air 3S, or Mavic 3, and will do over 50mph. So 30 knots isn't a problem. Even these prosumer drones are very capable. It's great to see more complete coverage of these tests. Their videos are usually very short, and you don't see much. You are doing them a great favor showing so much too. They should have you make videos of all their boats. Great job.

Excellent video, thank you. Came here from your 'short' that popped up in my feed. Couple of things I don't think were mentioned, nothing tres importante, but 1 Are the engines naturally aspirated or with turbochargers? 2 Is there some form of heat source in the wheel house? It can get chilly in the shoulder months and heat would be nice. 3 Were the throttles able to be synchronised thus using just one lever. Some twins are tricky to set up and balance. 4 Quite often there can be hidden objects in the water. How would those rear drives stand up to an impact with a deadhead? (And I don't mean a floating fan of the Rock Band lol) It was a good comparison to see how the Pilot boat was navigating the seas in a nice easy motion and yet the T2 seemed to be a bit choppy. Could have been just the camera motion of course. Many years ago I was crewing on a Nelson 40 which had been converted to a private yacht and remember seeing some serious snot (similar to what you just experienced) whist crossing the channel at night from Brixham. The vessel had a nice easy motion to it despite the high seas. Mind you, we were backed off to 8 knots. Those were the days of trailing a log behind the boat and using RDF to monitor your position. So I have to say the newer nav gear is a godsend. Keep up the good work.

I have followed this channel from near the beginning and have made at least two disparaging remarks, to both of which you responded reasonably, and for which I apologise. Well done, John. Your channel is destined for greatness and this comprehensive video is but a start of it. Liked, as always. I don't like the Sofia Loren slanted 'Italian-style' windows. This boat would have benefited from Dutch 'Trawler-style forward-raking windows which would be both practical and even more sexy, like Doutzen Kroes...

Not a live aboard, what limits a bit its possible explorer abilities. It's very much performance directed. It can be a very convenient sea commuter in places like the Baltic, no weather limitations. Very nice.
@kjellrogerjgensen602 күн бұрын
Common issue with higher speed in high sea is stamping and nosediwe. The big limiting factor, hard to get around. But there are gradations. And this one are good as long as there are air in the tunnel. And the sea is not that bad. Its a ok day ag sea.

6:33 Do you suppose anyone will be riding in that bow seating area while the vessel is "punching" through the waves in heavy weather? Somehow, it seems a bit unlikely. But I've seen some wild things at Haulover Inlet in South Florida so I can't rule it out. I'd think seat belts, or even 4 point restraints might be in order. Definitely enjoyed the review. This is a boat for a very specific type of individual. Built to safely go fast in heavy weather, this is not the pleasure cruiser on which to live the Jimmy Buffet lifestyle in straw hats, T-shirts, shorts, flip flops, with margaritas on the aft deck while rafted up and watching sunsets in the sunny Caribbean. Nope, not that at all. This is high adventure, full-on, life on the edge, hold my beer, high power boating. Every inch of her is designed for that and just that. The cabins are sleek and ultramodern but sterile and not terribly inviting. But who needs inviting? They're just a place to rest your head between between storm fronts. I wouldn't want to be in either of them while underway in anything but flat calm. The entire raison d'être of this machine fairly screams rough waters in heavy weather. If that's your style then this boat is for you. I haven't much to say about the jet drives - I'm no engineer - except to note that they are the very soul of this boat. Fire 'em up and let's go for a ride!
