Again, a hull that is not rated for ice. But, atleast it's a steel hulled boat. But, if I am buying a boat made of steel or aluminum it is going to be designed and built with the sacraficial bow, the keel and bottom plate no less than 1 1/2 inch thick to the water line then tapering to 1 inch to the deck and the super structure being 3/4 to 3/8 inch and deck plating being 3/8 inch. This would give the ship the best chance of surviving the north sea in ice conditions and hopefully survive a rouge wave witout tearing the boat in half.

Correct me if I'm wrong but i believe this Helmsman 43 is cheaper than the Nordhavn 41? what i like about the Helmsman is the huge living space where Nordhavn chose to have two side decks limiting the interior space greatly, a decision i always thought was a mistake, the old Nordhavn 40 has larger saloon as no side decks, the 41 layout just didn't make sense to me especially when the bigger 51 has just the one side deck for better saloon space while also having docking access on one side. However I'd take the Helmsman 43! Although it would benefit from a larger fuel tank, i hope that would be an option as the engine room looked to have the space.

Very Spartan for a yacht. I would like it, though my wife and friends would be wondering about spending so much on such a utilitarian device. Aside from no backup power it appears to be very useful for long distance travel but not so good at entertaining otherwise. I have spent many weeks and even months on long passages in large research and work boats with even simpler accommodations than this one but the crew and I were being paid well to do so. I confess to appreciating a little more comfort and decor in something I would want to spend considerable time living in for recreation and pleasure. Is there any provision for a stabilizing system?
