Super Yacht Chef sorry for missing the response here. Please let me know. Perhaps we can put together some videos on the challenges of being a yacht chef and how to delight guests...a bit different from below deck!

Excellent observations…. Owner bias is so strong with toys.

Can you say “Nordhavn & Grand Banks” brokers? I’ve experienced both first hand this past year.
@jeffwells97564 жыл бұрын
Chris, transparency is key and I would have you as a broker without question.👍🏻also I have seen some yachts for sale and it states “not for sale to USA buyers, “why would they do that? Thanks
@YachtHunter4 жыл бұрын
Great question and thanks for asking! Not for sale to USA buyers means that the vessel is registered or flagged in another country and taxes or duty have not yet been paid to the US government. The vessel is likely located within US Waters on a cruising permit but Uncle Sam wants to get his cut. The question you need to ask yourself when buying a vessel with this title is if you are willing to pay duty (normally 1.5%) and taxes (maximum of $18,000 in FL) at the time of purchase or if you will also flag your boat under another flag state such as Jamaica, Marshall Islands, etc.

Yacht Hunter thanks for letting me know about that, what a great detailed answer 👍🏻what happens then if you are from Australia like me and just want the yacht delivered to Sydney,? Who’s paying ? The buyer or are you off the hook then because it’s sold elsewhere than the states. Just thinking of getting hit down the track by the IRS 😂😂😂

Jeff Wells sorry I missed the response here Jeff. Where you flag the boat is where you will pay the taxes. You see many boats flagged in the Marshall Islands, Jamaica and other countries because they are happy to take a much smaller cut then other flag states. This will impact your cruising privileges in Australia and will also impact who you can hire so there may be a trade off.

This stuff fun to watch when you work at a place that designs them😅

The only thing I know about this stuff is that most customers that come to dont really care what it costs. Ist about invovation and compensation for something else.

Appreciate this advice and consumer advocacy, but don't get clipped over it bro lol. Another reason yachts are overpriced is because it's all gravy. It's a non essential, luxury industry whether you own to charter or own to enjoy. But I guess that is a given.

because they are luxury items. the market are the rich people thats why they are expensive. they make those gimmicky features inside the boat that you can easily do or not really important features and give it a high price. if you just want to experience the sea and do everything a luxury yacht can do. build your own boat. it will cost fraction of the price if you buy a luxury one. aluminum is not cheap but aint too expensive either.
